Pleasant View Schools is a registered educational institution whose origin goes back to 1998, when it started as a pre-school, “The Pleasant View Academy”, steered by the visionary director Mr. Geoffrey Kimani Kirunyu. He had noted with great concern that most parents were travelling long distances in search of quality education and the number of students joining national secondary schools and uni

versities from Komothai location, was on the decline. This trend was proving detrimental to the social and economic development of the area unless action was taken. He established the school with an aim of producing a new breed of students who would have a holistic quality education and uprightness of character. The school name;' Pleasant View Academy' was coined from the topography of the land on which the school is built. The school is set on a ridge between two permanent rivers; Komothai and Gachie Rivers respectively, and the view of the land was and still is spectacular /pleasant and very conducive for learning. The school admitted the first group of children in 1998, with an enrollment of 11 pupils to baby, nursery and pre-unit classes. The children were housed in semi-permanent buildings. Following the success of the E.C.D classes, the stone foundation was laid by Rev. Richard Wathure, the then moderator of P.C.E.A Kiratina parish on the 9 of August 1998 with an aim to put up a fully fledged primary school to absorb the pre-unit grandaunts and class 1-8 pupils who were by then eagerly seeking vacancies in the school. In January 1999, the main primary school was launched and 87 pupils enrolled from class 1-8 as either borders or day scholars. The population increased steadily and by the end of February, the number of borders had risen from 28-42 and 88 day scholars. The year 1999 was quite fruitful as the school attained position 2 in Kiambu district, with 23 candidates, one being the best student in Kiambu district having attained 571 marks out of 700 and another candidate being the second best girl in Kiambu district. Both students joined national schools and the overall performance was also good. Since then the school has continued to nurture all round students and maintain high academic and discipline standards. From semi-permanent classes and dorms, kerosene and pressure lamps to permanent buildings, spacious and electrified, the school has continued to make lemonades out of lemons.
