Neemaland Kings and queens center is a children’s rescue and mentoring facility located in Sattelitte- Kabiria Nairobi. Succeeding amidst various challenges, the center has been able to rescue a lot of children’s lives thus winning the Kenyan government’s recognition and the undying support of well-wishers. Founded on the principles of spirituality, the center offers children’s care and counseling
through church services organized within the location to ensure that the little angels retrace themselves to their inner selves. The number of children received from the good Samaritans and from the government through the District Children’s Office, makes the average number of rescued children stay at 80 with a constant number of 54. The need for their future stability made the center start Degraje mentoring school which has been registered by the government and also accommodates other less advantaged children from the local community. The school offers full primary education from baby class to class 8 through the 844 system. Within this growth, a lot of challenges facing the center are countable:
Food: The daily need for food for the growing children increases constantly and this demands the center to work with very limited budget and ask for more donations because the school has 227 children including those from the local community who take breakfast and lunch in school. Playground: Recreation is a very important activity in human growth and children in particular, this needs the center to acquire its own space of land so that the monthly rent payments which is a problem can be eliminated. Bedding and clothing: Nearly all children rescued do reach the center with only the clothes they are wearing so it’s always the center’s responsibility to clothe the children and make sure they get warm sleep. So it requires the center to be able to buy for them clothes and sleeping materials and also diapers for the young ones. Equipment for talent and skills development:
Through our mentorship program we identify children’s talents and nurture them towards prosperity and this requires the center to have computers, music equipment and any other instruments that are beneficiary to talent promotion. This is in dire need. Even though the challenges are vast, the center has been able to rescue, mentor and graduate to the world of employment many souls who are now enjoying their lives.
