How do you use and C++ to improve agricultural productivity of smallholder ? πŸ€”

Our 15 year old student, Enock Musyoka at The Mpesa Foundation Academy developed a real time monitoring system to monitor the temperature of the greenhouses on their school . This improves crop yield and increases household income for farmers. 😎

How can robots solve the water crisis in cities?

Our students participated in the First LEGO League (FLL) and designed robots that could solve the water crisis in a simulated city.

We brought home the trophy πŸ†. First place out of 200 students from schools across East Africa and over 20 teams; 🎈🎈🎈 for the programming and design of our robots.

Discover chemistry: πŸ‘©πŸΏβ€πŸ”¬ with E-Lab & Bio Food
Bio Food held a workshop for our students from (SHOFCO) to learn the science behind yoghurt.

Fun fact: Starter cultures turn lactose into lactic acid giving your yogurt that tangy taste!!

Had a working lunch session with our Head of People & Programs, Dickson Kamau. We strategized over our retention and acquisition plans for FY 2018/19 and made plans to close out the last 6 months of the year strong.

to our inaugural class of 2015, where we had 20 scholars from various schools join us on our first STEM summer program. 🀩🀩🀩🀩

2.5 years later, they have all cleared Form 4 and A levels. 70% of our cohort are pursing STEM related degrees within Nairobi and abroad.

Special thanks to IBM Research Africa and Brookhouse whose foundational support led us to grow in a sustainable for profit social enterprise, with 580 students in our portfolio to date.

|| Hard work beats talent when talent won’t work ||

Spent the first part of Labor Day working instead of resting. We have 580 students from age 6 - 17 in our portfolio. This will grow to about 950 in 6 months.

So as a team, we sat to co-create the future.

We are strengthening our systems and our simplifying procedures to ensure we continue to deliver a high quality STEM curriculum for all our educational clients.

The Engineering Lab.

The average age of my team is 25. Who else to better create the future with than young people?

Also, 3/5 of us are educated to Diploma level. Yet, here we all are making incredible feats in STEM education. These young men prove to me, that a degree or diploma can only take you so far in the current labor market.

What you need is the willingness to learn, and an opportunity to perform.

In the future, we aim to reform the education sector as we transform Kenya into a knowledge based economy and infuse 21st Century skills into classrooms.

150 students. 13 schools. 1 GOAL.
Think like a scientist and engineer and build a robot based on the global theme of Hydro Dynamics. Students between age 13 - 18 built robots to explore the location, use and storage and movement of water.

Over 12 weeks, we coached our teams for East Africa's regional First Lego League (FLL) to research and create robots on Hydro Dynamics. Our team came in at first place!

In 2018, we are introducing our STEM program across Kibera and Mathare. 350 young brilliant minds to transform into future engineers, scientists and innovators. This is what my our heart ❣ πŸ’“ beats for. Incredibly proud of Ken Ronoh, Erick Odero and Dickson Kamau who led the first phase of our Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop for teachers from the Shining Hope for Communities school (SHOFCO).

2 years ago, I had this dream of providing access to STEAM education in low income settlements. Today, my team made that happen for them - and for us. ☺️☺️☺️ Day 1 begins with 'Basic Introduction to Computing' at Shining Hope for Communities in Kibera.
