Don’t let your wounds name you . Stop Introducing Yourself By What Broke You.
Letters to the Leader I’m Becoming
Day 236 of 2026
This morning , I stopped a woman at the word “wounded.”
It’s a beautiful Monday !
I just finished a group session with women who want to build initiatives that empower their communities.
Every woman in that room had a story.
Some painful.
Some beautiful.
Some both.
One woman shared her desire to create a community for women who have survived difficult financial seasons, particularly those affected by financial infidelity in their marriages.
She already had a name:
Wounded Women.
I stopped her.
“Why wounded?”
Because sometimes the name you give yourself becomes the identity you keep rehearsing.
Yes, you were wounded.
But must wounded become who you are?
We talked. We wrestled with it. And eventually, she said she would find a name that carried more possibility, more power, more life.
I made this statement,
A woman who doubts her worth will often negotiate against herself , in love, in rooms, and especially with money.
Looking back, some of my biggest financial losses came from moments when I didn’t know my own worth.
I charged less.
Asked for less.
Accepted less.
Stayed where I had outgrown.
Called crumbs “enough.”
Not because I lacked value.
Because I had not yet learned to recognize it.
Perhaps one of the most expensive things a woman can carry is not debt.
It is a diminished view of herself.
Your story may explain your wounds.
But please, don’t let your wounds name you.
You survived it. You don’t have to become it.

Still becoming!
