According to the UN Youth Strategy 2030, launched on 24 September 2018, the world today is home to the largest generation of young people in history, 1.8 billion. By the 2050 Africa’s youth population is expected to reach over 830 million.

In 2017, the UNDP reported that every 24 hours, nearly 33,000 youth across Africa join the search for employment. About 60% will be joining the unemployed.
