Dr. Kioko Mwania, Deputy Director of Grants Management at the National Research Fund (NRF), delivered a powerful address on strengthening national research capacity and community-led solutions at the African Universities and Communities Climate Week (AUCCW) 2026.

🤝 Strengthening Partnerships for Women in Peace Operations
Today, the Department of Security, Peace and Development Studies (SDPS), had the pleasure of paying a courtesy call to the Office of the Inspector General to explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership in proposal development and project implementation.
The proposed initiative will focus on addressing barriers affecting uniformed women participating in peace operations, advancing gender-responsive approaches and supporting more inclusive peace and security efforts.
The partnership brings together key stakeholders, including UN Women Kenya, with the project set to be housed within the Department of Security, Peace and Development Studies (SDPS).

The team was led by Dr. Merecia Sirera, reflecting Kenyatta University’s commitment to impactful research, strategic partnerships and solutions that contribute to women’s meaningful participation in peace and security. 🌍🤝

Kenyatta University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Okumu, PhD, represented by Registrar Corporate Affairs, Prof. Mildred Nawiri, today received a delegation from Afrika Mashariki Fest, led by Dr. Kisembo Ronex Tendo, Group CEO, Afrika Mashariki Fest, to deliberate on Kenyatta University’s participation in the 3rd Edition of the Twende Zetu Butiama Pilgrimage Safari.

The pilgrimage, scheduled for October 2026, will bring together students and young leaders from universities across East Africa on a journey tracing the region’s liberation and integration history while paying tribute to distinguished Pan-African leaders.

The discussions focused on student participation, cultural exchange, regional integration, leadership and strengthening academic cooperation among East African institutions.
