Earlier today, I had the privilege of welcoming Shihan Koichiro Okuma at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport ahead of the 9th Edition of the Japan Karate Association (JKA) East Africa Region Gasshuku and Grading.

The championship, set to take place at Nyayo National Stadium from 6th to 9th August 2026, will bring together karatekas, instructors, and officials from across East Africa for four days of elite training, grading, technical excellence, and competitive spirit.

Kenya is proud to host this prestigious regional event, which continues to nurture talent, promote sportsmanship, strengthen regional unity, and uphold the core values of discipline, respect, and perseverance that define karate.

Wishing every participant success in their pursuit of excellence. May this Gasshuku inspire outstanding performances, lasting friendships, and the crowning of new milestones in East African karate. Welcome to Kenya, Shihan Koichiro Okuma.
