Mumo Education & Orphanage Centre

Mumo Education & Orphanage Centre Through providing education to the vulnerable children of the Mathare Huruma slum, Mumo centre tries (Where the HIV orphaned get support and assistance.)

Established in 2009 on the 3rd day of February, by Christopher Malusi Ngombalu as the Founder and Director. The Local based organization has been involved in activities tailored to meet the needs and wants of the less privileged, Orphaned, Vulnerable and the most needy children in the Mathare/Huruma slums. Touched by the plight of the children in the poor slums the founder saw the great need to come up with an Orphanage/Educational project meant to address the immediate and the urgent needs of these children’s foundation. The project is necessitated by two major fronts: The Orphanage. The Vulnerable (The less fortunate and the most vulnerable children due to poverty get support and assistance.) The children in Mathare and Huruma are very prone to many challenges due to the poverty levels of the area as their parents get to search for income; they tend to forget them leaving them to the mercies of the slum life. No less the poverty has even lead more parents to contract HIV and for the lack of proper support they die leaving their small children uncared for thus the very idea to come up with a project that address this issues and take care to these children to the level best. Since the start of the project, it has been able to support 81 OVC’s through its programs and more in the outreaches and support/medical Camps. Currently there are 50 OVC’s in the program who are being supported with non-formal primary education, Computer classes, Music Classes and guidance & counseling. The children are also being supported with medical services by networking with other organizations.

Hello friends! First of all we wish you all happy holidays! We are very grateful for all of you and wish you only the best!

This year has been another challenging but exciting year at Mumo. We would like to take this moment to introduce you to a very special project of this year. We had the honor to meet the great employees Marcel, Stefan and Julia of the TQU Group.

TQU has been very supportive and has made it possible to continue and improve our feeding program. Since the prices have increased significantly they managed to compensate the amount that has been missing for the lunch program and we were able to indroduce a porridge program for breakfast in school.

The article they wrote shows that this is a project very close to the heart. We are more than grateful for this cooperation and thank everyone who has contributed for their kind heart, great work and enthusiasm!

Hope lives in Mathare 🙏 TQU GROUP

The Mathare slums are surreal. A portrait about the life in the Slums. Learn about the hard reality and the beacon of hope in mathare.

On behalf of the Mumo Education and Orphanage Centre and I, take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to our projects this year 2020, we had several great initiatives where we saved many lives by distributing food and non-food stuffs to all Mumo families and the Mathare slums community during the covid - 19 pandemic. I also thank those who have been in forefront supporting our pupils, students and the Mumo project at large towards educating the less-privileged children in Mathare/ Huruma slums. The areas where we did not reach the required standards we shall try to improve next time. May God bless you and keep you safe and healthy. I wish you a prosperous Happy new year 2021.
