This week "Anppcan Regional Office" is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the ARISE Africa II Convening by the African Union to adopt the Common African Position on Ending Violence Against Children and validate the African Union Model Law on Child Online Safety.
Informed by the increasing challenges resulting from emerging technologies and platforms, we are advancing cogent discussions aimed to strengthen the legal and policy frameworks to protect children across Africa in the digital space. The convening builds on the continent’s commitment to place children and young people at the centre of efforts to end violence and ensure their voices influence decision-making.
We call upon state and non-state actors in Africa to be part of this process and prioritize implementing measures, protocols and solutions to protect children in the online space.

On June 30, 2026, "Anppcan Regional Office" participated in a child protection stakeholders’ convening in Nairobi where the National Council for Children's Services Kenya presented a status report on adoption, care reform, laws, policies, regulations and shared a work plan on activities for 2026/2027.
During the forum, we joined stakeholders in adding our voice on priority areas and affirming our commitment in supporting the Council on its mandate in regulating, coordinating and oversighting children's services in Kenya.
We affirm our commitment in working with NCCS and stakeholders in advancing child rights and child protection, and ensuring an enabling environment for children to thrive while exploiting their potential to the fullest.

In marking the Day of the African Child, June 16, 2026 whose theme is, "Ensuring universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene for every child in Africa," ANPPCAN celebrates many successes achieved in child rights.
Pupils at Otaro Primary School have access to water in their school. The water is also accessible to community members. We took part in a Training of Trainers (ToT) on Human Trafficking Prevention, Protection and Response on May 21 – 26, 2026 facilitated by HAART Kenya
We contributed to the discussions on child protection and safeguarding. Our Project Officer, Natasha Akholi facilitated a session on safeguarding children and strengthening safe environments for children within organisations and communities.
The session highlighted the importance of prevention, early identification of risks, proper reporting and referral pathways, ethical engagement with children and the responsibility of organisations to ensure children are protected at all times.
Together, we continue strengthening child protection and safeguarding practices within our communities
