MOTHER'S DAY.

Once upon a time a child was ready to be born. So he asked God “How am I going to live there? I am so small and helpless.”

God answered “Among many angels I chose one for you. She will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”

The child asked “Here I am in Heaven I don’t do anything else but sing and smile. That’s enough for me to be happy.”

God answered “Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. You will feel your angel’s love and be happy.”

The child asked “How will I learn? I don’t know the language that human beings speak.”

God said “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweetest words you will ever hear. With much patience and care your angel will teach you how to live.”

The child asked “What am I going to do when I want to talk to you?”

God smiled “Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.”

The child asked “Who will protect me?”

God said “Your angel will protect you even if it means risking her own life.”

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven but voices from the earth could already be heard and the child in a hurry asked softly “Oh God if I am about to leave now please tell me my angel’s name.”

“Your angel’s name is of no importance. You will simply call your angel ‘Mom’. ”


What a touching and warm story! It is no doubt that mother plays a rather important role in our life and we must show gratitude to them. It is meaningful to set up the Mother’s Day which is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.

Just on May 14th, people in China and Amercia celebrate this special day. In Africa, Mother’s Day may have passed or not arrive. But it doesn’t matter and let me tell you more about this holy day.


The modern holiday of Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. St Andrew’s Methodist Church now holds the International Mother’s Day Shrine. Her campaign to make “Mother’s Day” a recognized holiday in the United States began in 1905, the year her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, died. Ann Jarvis had been a peace activist who cared for wounded soldiers on both sides of the American Civil War, and created Mother’s Day Work Clubs to address public health issues. Anna Jarvis wanted to honor her mother by continuing the work she started and to set aside a day to honor all mothers because she believed that they were “the person who has done more for you than anyone in the world”.

In 1912 Anna Jarvis trademarked the phrases “Second Sunday in May” and “Mother’s Day”, and created the Mother’s Day International Association. She specifically noted that “Mother’s” should “be a singular possessive, for each family to honor its own mother, not a plural possessive commemorating all mothers in the world.”

Do not underestimate some people, for you never know what they mean until.......
