ALLIANCE GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL.
It has taken me 5 years to pen this down.Five years of learning.Five years of observing life.Five years of soul-searching.Five years of appreciating how far God has brought me.
Five years ago,I was busy trying to study and make the cut for the coveted 'A' grade.
I consumed copius amounts of coffee.I invested in an alarm clock.I was part of numerous study groups.I frequented departmental offices more than ever before.
See,being in Alliance called for top perfomance. There was pressure within and without to achieve.God is great that I weathered it.
It was in Alliance that I was introduced to M.I.T,Havard,Amherst,John Hopkins,Yale and their ilk.
And with that came the desire to secure myself a slot in one of them.
Engineering,Medicine,Law,Architecture were the gods we worshipped.
Fast forward to results being announced and I score something below an A.
For a moment,I almost caved in under the pressure.I was on the verge of defeat.
My Alliance dream of flying out fizzled.
On came Kabarak University,in Nakuru,Kenya.
Boy,I don't mean to blow my trumpet but I turned out just right perhaps better than I would have ever imagined
So,to my colleagues from the Alliances,Mang'u,Starehes and Loreto who may not have made the cut to the 'A's and 'the' courses wherever you are,I salute you and I hope, just like me,you've turned out just right, curving paths and nichés.
This goes as well to my teachers back at Alliance, tell the girls it is okay not to get the A.
Tell them farming is also a noble profession.
Tell them theology is a great course too.
Let them know that out here, though being in Alliance may open certain doors,it really does not count.
Tell the girls to value the non academic lessons they get from Alliance.
Tell them,B and C students, turn out just fine and missing the A should ever alter the course of the goals they have set for their lives.
Tell them to make friends, for friends are precious and look at life from all angles.
Tell them the light of Alliance shines on all of us,with an A or not.
Tell them, not to fear, they will turn, out just fine.
Sincerely,
Adm.8342.
