Hi Everyone,

We have the Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) course. which is a two-day interactive training session for designed to healthcare professionals (physicians, clinical officers, nurses, midwives and other clinicians) with skills and knowledge that are required in handling obstetric emergencies.

The program utilizes the widely acclaimed humanistic training approach to ensure knowledge and skills acquisition before the clinician attends to the patient. This methodology entails the use of case studies, mnemonics and mannequins during practical sessions and hence the uniqueness of the course.

Some of the key areas covered include and to mention but a few:-

* First Trimester Complications
* Medical Complications of Pregnancy
* Vaginal Bleeding in Late Pregnancy
* Intrapartum Fetal Surveillance
* Labour Dystocia
* Shoulder Dystocia
* Post-partum Haemorrhage

At the end of the training session, participants are evaluated with a Written Exam and Skills Assessment (practical) Examination. Those who pass are awarded a certificate from the Institute of Family Medicine (INFA-MED) which is authorized by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

The program is also accredited by the Medical Practitioner & Dentist Board(MPDB) and the Division of Reproductive Health,
Ministry of Health. Registration for our 35th session is on-going and scheduled for Thurs. Oct. 29th to Oct. 30th 2015. The training are conducted here in Nairobi while the charges are
Kshs. 13,500/=
