Care is not “help.”
It is not “extra.”
It is not informal.

Care is infrastructure.

Behind every thriving economy are women doing the work of raising children, nurturing families, and holding households together.

At Strong Start, we are committed to professionalising care:

• Through play-based early years programs
• Through upskilling caregivers in our Care Academy
• Through dignified employment pathways
• Through building a connected care ecosystem

Because when we invest in women, we invest in the future.
Happy International Women’s Day.

Home is where children feel safe. Seen. Loved.

But growth expands in playgroup.

In playgroup, children develop:

• Confidence through peer interaction
• Language in conversation-rich spaces
• Independence through routine
• Strength through movement
• Curiosity through structured exploration

This is not about replacing home.

It’s about expanding it.

Emergencies don’t schedule themselves.

And often, the first person with your child is:
• A nanny
• A grandparent
• A family member

Would they know what to do in those first critical moments?

It is recommended that everyone refresh their First Aid & CPR training every year. Skills fade. Guidelines update. Confidence drops without practice.

Strong Start offers private First Aid & CPR trainings in the comfort of your home.

✔ Minimum 6 participants
✔ Train your nanny + family + friends together
✔ Certified training

Preparation is peace of mind.

If you’ve ever worried whether your child is “doing enough”…

Take a breath.

Childhood isn’t about rushing to the next milestone.
It’s about curiosity.
Connection.
Confidence.

When children are given space to play, explore, and belong — development follows naturally.

That’s what we create every day at Strong Start.

March Nanny Trainings are now open.

In Nairobi, nannies play a central role in a child’s development.

But very few receive formal early childhood training.

If you employ a nanny, investing in their training is one of the most powerful upgrades you can make in your home.

Our March courses include:

• Infant Care & Development (0–6 months)
• Early Learners’ Training (1–2 years)
• Tots’ Training (2+ years)
• Weaning & Nutrition
• Cooking & Nutrition for Families
• First Aid & CPR

When you train your nanny, you elevate:

✔️ Safety standards
✔️ Engagement quality
✔️ Nutritional knowledge
✔️ Developmental understanding

Professional homes require professional training.

In Nairobi, many families have a nanny at home.

But having a nanny is not the same as having structured early years engagement.

We often see:

• Play that is ad hoc rather than intentional
• Long indoor days
• Nannies doing their best, but without early years training
• Limited peer interaction

And parents sensing their child needs more.

Playgroup isn’t a replacement for your nanny.

It’s reinforcement.

Children get:
✔️ Structured, play-based learning
✔️ Social interaction
✔️ Movement and outdoor exploration
✔️ Guidance from trained early years educators

And something powerful happens too.

Your nanny observes.
Learns.
Builds confidence.

That’s why we also offer nanny trainings — so that meaningful play continues at home.

This is the ecosystem we’re building at Strong Start.

When the rains arrive, many parents assume it’s time to stay indoors.

But in early childhood, nature is not a luxury - it’s essential.

At Strong Start, outdoor play isn’t a break from learning. It is THE learning.

Nature teaches in ways no worksheet ever could.

🌿 Rain become lessons in science.
🌿 Mud becomes sensory exploration and fine motor development.
🌿 Climbing becomes risk assessment and body awareness.
🌿 Weather becomes resilience, adaptability, and confidence.

Bodies regulate in open spaces. Independence grows through real-world problem-solving. Confidence develops when children are trusted to test themselves safely.

There is so much to learn in nature - especially during rainy season.

If you’re looking for a play-based program where your child can move, explore, and truly thrive, we’d love to welcome you.

🌱 Quick play tip for today (takes 10 minutes)

If you’re ever stuck on how to “keep them busy,” try this:
✅ Set out 3 simple items (e.g., cups + spoon + container / blocks + toys + elastic bands)
✅ Say: “What can you make with these?”
✅ Then step back and narrate what you see (instead of directing):
“I see you’re pouring… you’re stacking… you’re testing!”

This builds focus, language, and confidence - and it’s exactly the kind of open-ended play we use at Strong Start 🤍
