Good afternoon/ Morning guys,

Hope and trust that you are well. This is a long post alert.

The class 99, started mentorship program sometime last year. I am glad to say we were joined by other alumni from other classes. The second phase has not been able to commence due to the teachers' strike, which threw us off balance and life activities caught up with us.

It is still our desire and the desire of the school management that this continues. At this juncture, I propose if other classes can come on board and we work together to make the mentorship. Our suggestion, was that each school term, we be able to talk to classes 7 and 8, and where we can class 6, also join in. Your suggestions are highly welcome.

Also, we had come up with a suggestion, that in order to boost morale of the teachers, we see if we can revamp the staff room, since it lacked tables and chairs. Our suggestion was if we can be able to come up with lockers, workstations and chairs. Due to financial strains that we all are going through, as class of 99, we were able to raise Kshs. 24,000. This would only give us around 20 chairs going for a rate of Kshs. 1200 - 1500 each chair. The school needs 40 chairs, as the staff room doesn't have any chairs at all. We hope to deliver these seats before Easter holidays. If you can boost us and join us as we deliver them, we will appreciate.

Today, I met the headteacher and also would like to give an update about Racecourse Primary:

1. Mean score was 259.12, and all pupils have been able to secure secondary schools. The mean score was an improvement was 239, in the previous year.

2. CDF was able to paint 20 classrooms, the hall and also replace broken window panes. Though the ceilings and the floors remain the same.

3. I met former alumni of class 97 - Kabura who has been part of the management, PTA and restructuring of Racecourse.

4. The court case about the land that was grabbed from Racecourse, was finalized and the title deed was revoked. The occupant of the land is now paying Racecourse rental income.

5. The headteacher, is not aware of any CDF cash allocated for the perimeter wall despite some alumni coming across a document stating that Kshs. 3,000,000 was allocated for the same, during two financial years.

Thank you so much for your time. Your comments, suggestions and queries highly appreciated.

Alumni at the first mentorship meeting

04/08/2015

Hey guys.

Hope you are all well. Class of 99 has initiated a project dubbed . This was after realising that the school is in really bad shape. There are several issues ailing the school from drug abuse to lack of equipment. A mentorship program is already underway with the first round done. A second one is coming up soon. Money is also being collected to help with the cause. If anyone would like to contribute either money, time or skills please get in touch.

Thanks
