FROM MY PRAYER CHAMBER TODAY:
Exodus 35:21
*"Everyone whose heart was moved and whose spirit prompted him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the tent of meeting, for all its services, and for the holy garments."*
Now, people do not give to your cause because your story is compelling, or because your story makes sense, or is well structured or even emotional, there is a power beyond emotions and beyond convincing ability that causes anybody to give you anything; it is called The favour of the LORD.
Anybody that gives you anything:
a) Does not give you because they have no other place or need to spend on.
b) Does not give you because they have too much to give.
c) Does not always give you because you are "the most deserving" of that gift, may be sometimes, but not always.
People give because they are moved by God to do so and beyond a compelling story and a worthy cause, anyone that knows that life is more spiritual than it is physical and that the physical is born from the spiritual will MORE IMPORTANTLY, pray that the Spirit of God accompanies their presented request, to compel men to give!
Jesus said, "There were so many widows in Israel, but God sent Elijah to a gentile woman in Zarephath". This tells you that every widow was worthy of help, but there is one that had favor. Mary the mother of Jesus was not the only virgin in Israel, but the angel tells her, " You are highly favored!" Without favor, no matter how much compelling your story or situation is, it will be hard to get help or to get people to give to it.
Paul says, "Let whoever gives, give what they are willing in their hearts, not out of compulsion". This tells you that your giving must be from a place of whole heartedly wanting and loving to give, not because the person was nagging and couldn't let you breathe. And not because you are fearing what they will think of you if you don't, or that they may never help you in return if you don't. There should be a certain connection between the giver and the receiver that causes the giver to find joy, even yearn to be part of the solution to the receiver. In some sense, the giver seeks, even longs for a moment to be part of the cause, and a request from the receiver avails such a condition.
The giver therefore approaches this as a duty and not as an obligation or a burden. This is what that causes men and women to give even the last that they have. Not because they were brainwashed or forced or hood winked into it, but because there is an invisible cord between them as a giver and the receiver, that causes an unobstructed flow.
Now, if there is no such a conduit between you and the requester of help, YOU NEED NOT WORRY, if you don't end up giving! Yes! For there is therefore now now condemnation, to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit". If the Spirit of God does not cause you to give to a cause:
a) You should not feel condemned if you did not give or feel like when your time comes to ask for help, you should not ask from those that asked you formerly and you did not give.
b) The requester should not hold it against you or anyone that did not give to their cause, because they must understand that only "the moved" (those who are moved by the Holy Spirit) were supposed to give. And if someone that did not give to their cause ever asks for help and they are moved to help, they should not be stiff necked, but should obey and give regardless.
c) Giving should be approached from a case to case basis. You should not say I will not request from so and so, because last time they did not help, or I will request so and so, because they helped last time. Some who helped in a past case may not be moved to help in a current case, and some who have never helped in a past case may be moved by the same Spirit to help in a current case. And some may be moved as life time helpers, while others are blocked eternally and your continued request just serves to annoy them.
It would be incomplete to leave this text at this point without telling you how to unlock this favor that causes men to give you even up to half of their kingdom. But allow me to warn you that this means that this text will be longer.
1. Prayer and fasting - Moses before requesting the children of Israel for an offering came from a season of prayer and fasting. Esther when she prayed and fasted for 3days caused the king to tell her to ask for anything even up to half his kingdom and he'd give.
2. A life of service to God and fully dependence on God for all things. Some trust in chariots, others trust in horses, but there is a category of people whose only help is God. Consecration allows you to access a part of the tabernacle whose light is God and where other priests cannot; The Holy of Holies. The Holy place could accessed by every other priest, but the Holy of Holies was only accessed by the High Priests. It is in the Holy of Holies that manna was preserved, in the Holy place you only got Shewbread (bread for show, not to be eaten).
3. Be ready to trust God and follow instructions. In the Holy of Holies, that is where the ten commandments were "hidden". Whatever you do that was commanded by God, and not your creativity or emotions, God will send people and cause people to give towards it. God will raise men and women to make sure it is done. But if it is your creativity and just but a zealous venture, however noble it may be, then, struggling to get partners us inevitable. Selah.
