On 3rd December 2025, AICAD joined hands with the County Government of KIambu in a successful clean-up exercise at Juja Market as part of our Community Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
The activity brought together local traders, residents, county staff, and AICAD volunteers — all united by a shared goal of keeping our environment clean and promoting healthier communities.

AICAD Executive Director, Prof. James Njiru, on 2nd December 2025, held a productive meeting with the Vice Chancellor of the Technical University of Kenya (TUK), Prof. Laila Abubakar, on the sidelines of the KENET meeting in Mombasa.
The discussion focused on strengthening collaboration between AICAD and TUK in key areas such as capacity building, research development, training programs, and institutional support.
AICAD remains committed to partnering with universities across the region to advance impactful research, skills development, and sustainable growth.

On 1st December 2025, the African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) took a significant step toward advancing scientific collaboration and institutional strengthening by engaging with the Second Institute for Oceanography (SIO) at the UNESCO Offices in Gigiri, United Nations Complex.
The AICAD delegation, led by Executive Director Prof. James Njiru, together with Dr. John Njagi and other senior management officials, held strategic discussions with the SIO team led by:
🔹 Prof. Fang Yinxia, Director General
🔹 Prof. Wang Yuntao, Director, International Cooperation Center
The meeting was also graced by Ibukun Adewumi, Head of UNESCO/IOC Sub-Commission for Africa and the Adjacent Island States (IOCAFRICA), highlighting the importance of regional and global cooperation in research, innovation, and sustainable development.
Following the discussions, AICAD and SIO officially signed an MoU, marking the beginning of a collaborative journey focused on:

AICAD CEO Prof. James Njiru, together with senior management staff, today (14th November 2025) held a productive meeting with Mr. Joseph Njogu, CEO of Research Beeline Ltd.
The discussion focused on exploring fundraising opportunities, partnership pathways, and how AICAD can effectively leverage the Research Beeline platform for grant identification, proposal development, and research collaboration.
This engagement marks an important step toward strengthening AICAD’s resource mobilization efforts and expanding collaborative networks for greater impact across the region.

The African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD), in partnership with the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI), is currently hosting a two-day online training on Patenting and Intellectual Property Rights.
The training brings together lecturers, researchers, and innovators from across Africa to learn how to protect their intellectual property, promote innovation, and transform research outcomes into impactful community solutions.
Through such collaborations, AICAD continues to champion capacity building, innovation, and knowledge sharing as vital tools for poverty reduction and sustainable development.

held an online engagement with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) — one of our key partners in research and fellowship programs.
The discussion focused on how best to promote research and fellowship opportunities among AICAD partner universities, especially around the core thematic areas that AICAD is currently focusing on.
Both teams agreed to develop a joint call for proposals, aligned with the core mandates of our organizations and guided by the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This joint effort will help strengthen collaboration, support young researchers, and advance impactful scientific research across the region.
We are excited about this continued partnership and the opportunities it brings for innovation, knowledge sharing, and sustainable development in Africa!

From 15th–17th October 2025, the AICAD Tanzania Country Office (TCO), in collaboration with the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), successfully conducted a training on Food Safety and Quality Compliance for 29 small-scale ex-AICAD trainees in Value Addition and Agro-Processing from Morogoro, Tanga, and Njombe regions.
The three-day program aimed to build participants’ capacity to meet Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) requirements—an essential step toward business growth, product registration, and access to larger domestic and international markets.
The training covered key areas such as:
✅ Food laws, standards, and regulatory compliance
✅ Quality and safety management systems
✅ Procedures for TBS product registration
Facilitators from SUA and SIDO shared valuable insights and practical sessions to help participants improve product quality and ensure consumer safety.
The closing ceremony was graced by Ms. Janeth Chatta, District Administrative Secretary (representing the Morogoro District Commissioner), who emphasized that food safety and quality are central to achieving Tanzania’s Vision 2050 — ensuring a healthy, productive, and globally competitive population.
We are proud of all participants who successfully completed the course and are now ready to apply and share their knowledge to enhance Tanzania’s agro-processing sector.
Special thanks to our partners, facilitators, and the AICAD Country Director Prof. Bendantunguka Tiisekwa, for making this initiative a success. Together, we continue to promote skills development, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth in the region.

The Executive Director of AICAD, Prof. James Njiru, on 28th October 2025, had the privilege of meeting with staff from the Kenya Marine Fisheries and Socio-Economic Development Project (KEMFSED) who were utilizing AICAD’s conference facilities.
During the engagement, the team shared their feedback on AICAD’s services and facilities, providing valuable insights on how the institute can continue to enhance client experience and satisfaction. The discussions also focused on potential areas of collaboration between AICAD and KEMFSED, particularly in human capacity development, research, and community empowerment within the Blue Economy sector and across the East African region.
