Last week, Jaslika hosted a workshop in for the Representation and Inclusion in Kenyan Textbooks ( ) Project. Over two engaging days, we explored how representation and inclusion are reflected in basic education and early years learning materials.

Through capacity strengthening and collaborative discussions, secretariat ,together with project partners and the research team deepened their understanding of key concepts such as , , , and -economic .

The workshop challenged the team to move beyond informal socialization and critically examine how , , and experiences interact in educational context. We reflected on the importance of embracing our differences, and the need to confront personal prejudices and biases

A key takeaway was understanding how multiple dimensions of identity—ethnicity, gender, and socio-economic status—intersect and influence inclusion in education.

Together, we are contributing to a future where every learner can see themselves represented, respected, and valued in the materials they use every day.

Thank you Jaslika secretariat, project partners and the research team who are contributing to these meaningful discussions as we work towards a more inclusive education system for all.
