Global Service Team Update:
Help support the GREENLIGHT EDUCATION CENTER IN KENYA!
Since 2018, the CSL Ballard Global Service Team has helped over 100 students at the Greenlight Education Center in rural western Kenya. We currently pay teacher salaries and provide student meals, and we've raised funds to build two classrooms, among other projects.
Led by Kris Steinnes and Bonnie Pasek, the team is now seeking to raise $1,000 by July 21 to urgently cover immediate needs. Interested in knowing more? Reach out to Kris or Bonnie. Your support is greatly appreciated, and much more is needed during 2025. You can donate here; click "general donations" and select Kenya. You can also contact Kris directly at [email protected].

When I visited this school in 2017 to prepare for our Global Service Team visit I saw first hand what this area is like after rain! We had 4 inches of mud stuck to our shoes. And in the past two years, two of the toilets we provided sank in the flooding they go through almost every year, which is why we're raising $3,000 to build better toilets that won't sink!

The school re-opened on October 12, 2020, with all government-required COVID-19 safety protocols in place. Thanks to all who contributed to get Greenlight ready!

The school opened in 2011 for orphans from AIDS and HIV - 30 students sitting on rocks in a tin building. They still have these tin buildings for grades pre-school to 5th grade. We raised funds for the new two-classroom building in 2018 for grades 6 and 7. Three more buildings to go!

Nice to see school enrollment growing steadily! Children come from all around a rural area near Lake Victoria in Western Kenya to get an education.

Looking back over two years ago, our Service & Safari Trip accomplished a lot to get the school's physical structure established. A reminder of the good we've done and continue to do for education in rural Kenya.
