The parable of prayers
Imam Al-Baqir (peace be upon him) has said: “The prayer is the pillar of religion and its parable is that of the prop of a tent – when the prop remains upright, the pegs and ropes remain straight and upright, but when the prop bends or breaks neither the pegs nor ropes remain straight.”
May Allah make us among those who observe the five prayers.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) has said: “Every single Muslim must give charity every single day.” When asked who would be capable of doing such a thing, he replied, “your removal of an obstacle in the road is a charitable act; your guiding someone is a charitable act; your visit to the sick is a charitable act; your enjoinment of good to others is a charitable act; your forbidding of others from wrongdoing is a charitable act, and your returning the greeting of peace is a charitable act.” (Biharul Anwar: Volume 75, Page 50).

Madrasa-Tul-Falaah is an Islamic institution of learning and renowned Centre of oriental and Islamic studies in Kibra. The institution was established under the Societies Act of Kenya and has continued to be operational to date while running various projects in kibra among them being the Madrasa-Tul-Falaah, a learning centre that attracts children from around Kibra and a historical and cultural centre for the Nubians and Muslims from Kibra.
The rationale behind the establishment of the institution was to serve as a centre for repository of Islamic religious knowledge to the local members in kibra. The institution has continued to serve the educational needs of the members of the community while attracting currently 400 students who visit the institution for Islamic studies.
In the recent past, to boost and promote Islamic education in Kibra, Madrsa-Tul-falaah has been in the forefront of benchmarking with well established institutions such as Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt. Through this partnership the institution has managed to have some of its students proceed to Egypt to further their Islamic studies.
Many of the local members of the community including community renowned scholars and established individuals from the slums of kibra have been beneficiaries of the institution’s knowledge proceeds. To a larger extent, the institution has shaped the moral fabrics and leveraged on the accepted Islamic moral standards to many youths and the elderly in the community.
The existence of Madrasa-Tul-Falaah from its inception has remained to be a pillar of inspiration to the many mushrooming Islamic learning centers that continue to propagate Islamic teachings within and outside the community. The institution remains a historical site for the Nubian community.
