There was an important job to be done.
Everybody was asked to do it.
Everybody was sure somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was everybody’s job.
Everybody thought anybody could do it, and nobody realized everybody wouldn’t do it.
In the end, everybody blamed somebody when actually nobody asked anybody.
That story sounds funny… until you realize Africa is living it every single day.
There is an important job to be done.
The job is saving our generation from unemployment, dependency, and hopelessness.
But everybody is waiting.
- Waiting for the government.
- Waiting for connections.
- Waiting for miracles.
- Waiting for opportunities.
- Waiting for “their time."
Meanwhile, the world has already moved digital.
A young person with a laptop and internet today can learn graphic design, web design, digital marketing, video editing, AI tools, content creation, freelancing, virtual assistance, and social media management — sometimes for free.
But many still spend years scrolling instead of learning.
And that is the uncomfortable truth.
How do you complain there are no opportunities while spending 8 hours daily online consuming instead of building?
How do we expect change when we fear starting small?
The saddest part is not unemployment.
The saddest part is potential dying quietly in people who are waiting for permission to become useful.
Read that again.
“Potential dies faster in comfort than in failure.”
Some youths are waiting for jobs that may never come while ignoring skills that could feed them, employ others, and change their family story forever.
The internet is no longer just entertainment.
It is an economy.
And whether we accept it or not, digital skills are becoming survival skills.
- Nobody is coming to save our generation.
- Not everybody.
- Not somebody.
- Not anybody.
We must do it ourselves.
- Start learning.
- Start building.
- Start failing.
- Start again.
But stop waiting.
Because the future will reward people who prepared for it while others were busy waiting for opportunities.

Start today, Not Tomorrow.

One of the most painful truths in the creative industry is this:
We help brands become visible… while slowly becoming invisible ourselves.
A social media manager will follow a client’s content calendar to the letter but disappear from their own page for months.
A web designer will complete a client website in 2 weeks but take 5 months to finish their own.
A content creator will post meaningful content daily for clients but struggle to post once a week personally.
And honestly… I’ve lived that reality fully.
As a graphic designer, web designer, digital marketer, digital skills trainer at Aube Skills Hub, there was a time I went more than 3 months without posting consistently online.
Not because I lacked ideas.
Not because I stopped creating.
But because I was mentally exhausted, overwhelmed with client work, and constantly prioritizing revenue-generating tasks over my own visibility.
I remember spending an entire week trying to complete just ONE design for my own social media page on Adobe Photoshop.
Yet within that same period, I was delivering multiple client projects successfully.
That contradiction humbled me.
And the truth is, many creatives silently struggle with this.
We chase perfection on our personal brands.
We delay posting because “it’s not ready yet.”
We treat our own businesses like side projects while treating clients like priority contracts.
But here’s what I’ve learned:
- Visibility matters.
- Not just for vanity.
- Not for algorithms.
But because opportunities often come from what people consistently see.
Some of the clients we pray for are already watching… but we disappear before they can trust our consistency.
I’ve learned that imperfect consistency is better than disappearing completely.
Now, I intentionally schedule personal brand work like client work.
I lower perfectionism.
I focus on showing up intentionally, even when it’s not as consistent as I wish it could be.
Because creatives also deserve to build the brands they help others build.
If you’re a creative struggling to grow your own brand while helping everyone else grow theirs, trust me, you’re not alone.
Have you ever found yourself neglecting your own brand while building for clients?

4STOP TRYING TO LEARN EVERYTHING. IT'S THE REASON YOU'RE STUCK.
Let me save you time.
Trying to learn everything is why you’re not moving.
Today it’s:
- Graphic design
Tomorrow:
- Forex
Next week:
- Coding
You’re busy…
But not progressing.
Truth is:
One skill is enough to change your life.
Start with something practical.
For example:
WordPress.
Easy to learn
High demand
Can make you money
Focus beats confusion.

YOU BUY BUNDLES EVERY WEEK... BUT WHAT ARE YOU BUILDING?
Be honest.
You spend money on data every week.
Scrolling | Watching | Laughing
But what are you building?
Nothing.
Same phone. - Same internet.
Different results.
Some are:
- Learning skills
- Building income
- Changing their lives
Others?
Scrolling.
The difference is decision.

Every day, thousands of young people say:
“I will start learning digital skills next month.”
“I need a better laptop first.”
“I’m still researching.”
“I’m waiting for the right time.”
But here is the truth:
The cold water doesn’t get warmer if you jump late.
The fear does not disappear.
The market does not slow down.
Opportunities do not pause and wait for you.
Someone else is already starting with:
- a borrowed laptop,
- slow internet,
- a small smartphone,
- zero experience,
- and pure determination.
And months later, they are already building websites, designing graphics, editing videos, managing brands, freelancing online, and earning from skills they once feared learning.
Meanwhile, many people are still “preparing to start.”
As a digital skills tutor, I have seen something powerful:
The students who grow the fastest are not always the smartest.
They are the ones willing to begin before they feel ready.
You do not need perfect conditions to start learning digital skills.
You need:
- consistency,
- curiosity,
- discipline,
- and the courage to be a beginner.
Your first design may look terrible.
Your first website may break.
Your first edit may embarrass you.
That is normal.
Nobody becomes confident before starting.
Confidence comes after repetition.
The digital economy is growing every single day.
Remote work is growing.
Online business is growing.
AI tools are changing industries rapidly.
The biggest risk now is not starting late.
The biggest risk is convincing yourself that you still have time while the world keeps moving.
Start where you are.
Start with what you have.
Start before you feel ready.
Because one year from now, you will either say:
“I’m glad I started.”
Or:
“I wish I started earlier.”
At Aube Skills Hub we believe digital skills can change lives — but only for those willing to take the first step.

Every day in Kenya, thousands of young people are enrolling in online courses hoping to change their lives.
And honestly, that is a beautiful thing.
But there is one painful truth we rarely talk about.
Many people are learning to post certificates - NOT TO BUILD SKILLS.
You will see:
- LinkedIn updates
- Graduation photos on Facebook
- Instagram stories
- WhatsApp status full of motivational quotes
Then after one week… nothing happens.
No projects.
No clients.
No practice.
No ex*****on.
Just consumption.
I learned this lesson personally during a 3-month online WordPress web design course with over 170 students.
By the second month, many people thought I already had experience in web design because of how fast I was improving.
Truth is… I had ZERO background.
What made the difference?
I practiced daily.
I asked questions every single day.
I implemented every lesson immediately.
While many students were waiting to “graduate first,” I was already building websites, freelancing, teaching classmates, and even getting paid to handle some tasks.
Before graduation, I had already made around KES 35,000 using the same skill we were all learning together.
Same course.
Same tutor.
Same lessons.
The difference was ex*****on.
That experience taught me something powerful:
Confidence does not come before action.
Confidence comes FROM action.
Many people are waiting to feel ready before they start.
But the people winning in today’s digital economy are not the people consuming the most content.
It is the people building.
Practicing.
Failing.
Trying again.
Asking questions.
Executing daily.
At Aube Skills Hub, we believe skills should produce results, not just certificates.
So if you are learning a digital skill today:
Start building immediately.
Create projects.
Practice daily.
Ask questions fearlessly.
Do not wait for perfection.
Because the market does not reward watchers.
It rewards DOERS.
So tell me honestly:
Are you learning to impress people online… or to change your life offline?

This Labour Day, we celebrate a new generation of workers

Telling stories, and
