During yesterday’s engagement with students from the Purdue University School of Aviation and Transportation Technology, the Director General of Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI), Dr. Jane Wangu Njuguna, highlighted the growing role of technologies such as drones in areas including aerial seeding, forest monitoring, and environmental conservation.

She noted that strategic partnerships, such as the collaboration between KEFRI and Fahari Aviation, will play a key role in supporting the ambitious goal of planting trees across more than 10 million acres by 2032. Dr. Njuguna also emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration between industry and academia to drive innovation and develop practical, scalable solutions for the future.

Today, we had the incredible opportunity to host students from the Purdue University School of Aviation and Transportation Technology alongside our partner Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) at KEFRI's Headquarters in Muguga.

The session showcased how drone technology is transforming forestry operations through applications such as drone spraying, forest monitoring, and aerial mapping. Our team, led by Allan Mihari & Nelson Mukiri, conducted live drone demonstrations, mapped a section of the forest, analyzed the collected data, and presented the insights, led by Mr. George Rubia, our Acting Head of Training.

Engagements like these reflect Fahari Aviation’s commitment to driving innovation and advancing the UAS ecosystem through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and practical application of drone technology across industries.
