Superintendent Announcement 19/10/2021

We wanted to share two announcements simultaneously with you, our Alumni Community.

First, an excerpt of an announcement made by the Rosslyn Board of Governors to the Rosslyn Community at the end of last school year.

The Rosslyn Board of Governors is saddened by Dr. Phil Dow’s announcement that he will step down as Rosslyn’s Superintendent at the end of school term 2022 to take the Head of School position at Black Forest Academy. Dr. Dow is an excellent leader and has had the full confidence of the Board as Superintendent. We appreciate all he accomplished during these years. The Board loves Dr. Dow and will miss him. Because of that love, the Board is excited for the Dow family as they embark on a new and challenging adventure serving God. Black Forest Academy is a like-minded school that helps missionary families around the world by providing quality education for missionary children. We know from first-hand experience that Dr. Dow is gifted to lead such an organization.

Second, Rosslyn is excited to announce who will be filling the role of Superintendent beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.

After months of expansive advertising through the DRG Talent Advisory Group, interviews, and diligent prayer, the Board of Governors at Rosslyn Academy is very excited to announce the new Superintendent, beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, Dr. Jon Hill. Dr. Hill has over 20 years of experience as an educator and administrator. His career began in the US, but has since taken him to China (6), Korea (11), Trinidad and Tobago (2), and Tanzania (3). He served for 11 years in a Christian International school much like Rosslyn and for the past 6 years has been a Principal at one of the world’s leading international schools, The International School of Beijing. Dr. Hill has two Master’s degrees, both in the Sciences, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. His educational accolades, coupled with his extensive experience in a wide range of roles as an educator and leader, separated him from an impressive field of applicants. Anonymous Rosslyn alum offers to match any June donations towards the Commons “Legacy Room”

For the first time in its 75 year history, Rosslyn Academy will open the 2021-22 school year with a functioning dining Commons. As a way of honoring the legacy of our alumni, we asked the building’s architect to include in the new Commons an intimate dining room set aside for alumni and other special events.

We would like you to consider playing a part in the outfitting and furnishing of the Alumni Legacy Room, and we are very pleased to announce that one alumnus has already offered to match any June donations towards the project up to its expected $15,000 cost.

Our goal is to see at least fifty alumni contribute towards this project during the month of June. Would you consider playing even a small role in the completion of the Legacy Room?

The process of contributing is fast and fully tax deductible (3-5 minutes). Simply follow this link (https://rceinternational.givingfuel.com/rosslyn-academy) to the Rosslyn Academy page of RCE (our fundraising partners), and choose the “The Commons” project. If you would like your donation to remain anonymous, simply make a note of that in the “Personal Note” box at the bottom.

We'll keep you updated on our progress during the coming weeks!

Here is a small sample of the universities that the class of 2021 were admitted to: University of Toronto, Trinity College Dublin, the United States Naval Academy (Annapolis), Northwestern University, University of California Berkeley, Rutgers University, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of British Columbia, Calvin College, Taylor University, Moody Bible Institute, and many, many, more. Congratulations class of 2021!

03/06/2021

We are so excited to welcome the Class of 2021 into the Alumni Association. Today 62 students officially became Alumni of Rosslyn Academy. We are so proud of each of these students and wish them all the best as they take their next steps.

This graduation ceremony also marks the end of the 2020-2021 school year. This year required our students and teachers to adapt and adjust to the constantly changing Covid-19 regulations and the transitions between online and in-person learning. Our students and teachers were resilient through it all. Though it was an unprecedented academic year we can reflect and celebrate that we not only survived but thrived.

Rosslyn is also nearing the completion of a new Commons dining facility. Check in tomorrow for more information about an opportunity for our Alumni to be a part of this new addition to our campus.

Gary Nipper – Dwight Family Funeral 10/02/2021

To our Rosslyn Academy Community,

It is with a sad heart that we write to communicate to you the passing of an important member of our Rosslyn Academy family, Gary Nipper. Gary and his wife Pam served at Rosslyn from 2007 until 2010. Gary was a person of deep faith and kindness, driven by his two great passions, the Gospel of Christ and Africa. During his time at Rosslyn, Gary served as the Superintendent and made many important contributions in the lives of our teachers and students. We are grateful for Gary's faithful service here at Rosslyn and in many other places around the world. Those of us who knew Gary continue to remember him with great fondness and respect. Please join us in praying for the Nipper family as they grieve Gary's passing. The following link will take you to Gary's obituary: https://dwightfamilyfuneral.com/4641-2/

As Christians, we grieve at the death of Gary but we do not grieve without hope. Just as Jesus Christ rose again from the dead and promised the gift of eternal life for all those who put their faith in Him, we know that, though Gary has left this earthly place, he is now at peace in the eternal and loving presence of Jesus. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

Peace,

Dr. Phil Dow
Superintendent
