It is good to first understand what the act says about registration and training. Let us look at registration and training: 1) Are you required to have a certificate from a private security training institution even if you have a GFN issued via ussd code by psra(x222x33 #)? Yes, you do. You will be required to produce a certificate for your annual renewal.
*26. Renewal of registration
*(1) An individual private security service provider shall annually register with
the Authority in a manner prescribed by the Authority.
(2) An application for renewal under this section shall be made to the Authority
in such form and manner as may be prescribed and shall be accompanied by—
(a) the prescribed application fee; and
(b) evidence of having undertaken training in security matters of not less
than a week in the preceding year. 2)Are private security service companies allowed /accredited by the psra to offer security courses/trainings? No, they are not allowed since psra has license for different categories of security services: 1- corporate security service provider 2- private security training institutes/Academies. Although they are supposed to work together by physical attendance in the institute. Or the private security companies hire accredited instructor’s registered with the institutes to offer training in person within their facility. The institution then issues the certificate which has GFN printed on it.
*Refer to Second Schedule section 68 -1(c),(j).Code of conduct for private security service providers in the psr-act no.13 of 2016
