The 2026 Annual Health Conference and 80th anniversary celebration of the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) was held on 28th April 2026.
Our Vice Chancellor, Dr. Nelson Makanda, was privileged to deliver an address on the role of training institutions in advancing service delivery.
In his remarks, he emphasized that training institutions play a critical upstream role in shaping health systems—not merely by graduating professionals, but by forming them. Beyond clinical competence, he noted that health workers must be equipped with ethical judgment, a spirit of servanthood, and leadership skills that promote community-centered care and accountability. These values are essential in advancing the mission of faith-based institutions, particularly as we strive toward universal health coverage.
Africa International University - AIU's strategic partnership with CHAK continues to be a significant endeavor in advancing God’s mission through healthcare.
Congratulations to CHAK at 80 years!

This morning, our Vice Chancellor, Dr. Nelson Makanda, accompanied by one of AIU's Ph.D. students, Bishop Paul Wanjohi of Abundant New Life Church, paid a courtesy call to Nyeri Governor, H.E. Dr. Mutahi Kahiga, EGH. The meeting focused on Africa International University’s strong commitment to advancing Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), capacity building, and structured training for clergy in Nyeri County.
Through RPL, the University seeks to create a pathway for pastors—especially those who have faithfully served without formal theological training—to gain certification and formal recognition of their ministry experience. This initiative not only affirms their calling but also strengthens the credibility and impact of their service.
Additionally, capacity building and continuous training for clergy remain essential in fostering sound biblical doctrine, ethical leadership, and the ability to navigate the increasingly complex social, cultural, and spiritual challenges of our time.
Africa International University remains committed to empowering church leaders, strengthening communities, and advancing transformative education that bridges faith, knowledge, and practice.

In our continued engagement in South Korea, we have witnessed God’s marvelous deeds for His Kingdom and connected with remarkable individuals whose faithful service has greatly advanced God’s work in Africa through Africa International University (AIU). People who have remained united by a shared vision to build a society transformed through the holistic moulding of leaders committed to serving God and humanity.
As part of this inspiring journey, we were blessed to join fellow believers in a powerful Friday night prayer meeting at Seok-su Church. Later, we had the privilege of being graciously hosted by Prof. Kim and his wife, whose family has been instrumental in supporting AIU’s mission. The Kims continue to strengthen the bond between South Korea and Africa, driven by a shared passion for advancing Christian higher education and leadership development.

On Friday, November 7th, I had the privilege of visiting the Global Mission Society (GMS) in Korea, the mission arm of the Presbyterian Church, together with my colleagues, Dr. Lawrence Oseje and Rev. Evans Mutamba. It was a deeply meaningful experience that reminded us of the power of faith, partnership, and shared mission in advancing the gospel across nations.
We were warmly received by the Administrative Director of GMS, who offered an inspiring overview of the church’s rich history and its remarkable contribution to global missions. Listening to their journey of faith and impact was both humbling and affirming—it highlighted how God continues to work through His people to transform communities and nations.
Our visit also included a moving experience at the Hwaseong Independence Memorial, where we reflected on the resilience and courage of the Korean Christian martyrs who stood firm in their faith amidst Japanese colonial oppression. Their unwavering commitment to Christ, even unto death, challenged us to live and serve with the same steadfast conviction.
To crown the day, Rev. Kim graciously led us through a tranquil botanical path, where we enjoyed the breathtaking autumn colors—a moment that beautifully symbolized renewal, growth, and God’s handiwork in creation.
This visit was more than a cultural or historical encounter; it was a reaffirmation of Africa International University’s calling—to nurture Christ-centered leaders who will transform society. As we continue to strengthen global partnerships such as this, AIU remains committed to advancing God’s mission through education, collaboration, and service to humanity.
