Disciplining a Child
As I grow and reflect on my own upbringing, I often ask myself: How can I raise my child without shouting, harsh words, or turning correction into war?
I have come to understand that true discipline is not about fear. It is about guidance. When discipline becomes anger, humiliation, or aggression, it may control behaviour for a moment — but it can wound a child for a lifetime.
A child who is mishandled in the name of discipline may carry invisible trauma. That trauma can affect how they see themselves, how they relate to others, and even how they relate to the opposite gender later in life. What we call “correction” can shape their confidence, trust, and emotional security.
Children need structure, yes — but they also need safety.
They need correction without rejection.
They need consequences without cruelty.
They need firmness without fear.
Discipline should teach, not intimidate. It should build character, not break spirit.
If we want emotionally healthy adults tomorrow, we must raise emotionally secure children today.
Let us choose patience over shouting.
Let us choose guidance over war.
Let us choose love that corrects without wounding.

Many people who come to learn the keyboard—or any other instrument—often say things like, “Within two or three weeks,” or “In three months, I want to play like you.”

For a complete beginner, this is simply not realistic. There are many foundational things that must be understood first. Mastering a musical instrument is not about a few weeks or a few months. Unless someone studies day and night—which is rarely practical—there is only so much that can be learned in a short time.

In most structured lessons, practice time is usually about 45 to 60 minutes per day. Progress comes from consistency, patience, and correct guidance, not speed.

Another very important factor is who is teaching you. Good teaching builds strong foundations, clear understanding, and healthy habits. Poor guidance can create confusion that takes much longer to correct later.

Music is a journey. Growth takes time—and that time is not wasted; it is where real skill is formed
