Some opposition MPs claimed the Finance Bill 2026 contained certain clauses and provisions. Yet when challenged on the floor of Parliament, they could not point out the exact sections they had been warning Kenyans about.

So what happened?

Did they misread the Bill? Were they misled? Or did the controversial clauses somehow disappear when it was time to debate them publicly?

If you can see Clause ### while reading the Bill at home, but cannot find it when standing before the nation, then either there is a problem with the MPs... or there is a problem with the reading.

MP Peter Salasya claims pressure from the DCP camp forced some UDA MPs from Mt Kenya to skip the crucial Finance Bill 2026 vote.

If that is true, then the question remains: why were so many MPs absent during one of the most important votes affecting Kenyans' taxes and cost of living?

Whether for or against the Bill, leaders should have the courage to show up and have their votes recorded.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro spent weeks publicly opposing the Finance Bill. He spoke against it in Parliament, in interviews, and on social media.

However, when the final vote was taken, his name did not appear among the 40 MPs who voted NO.

So what exactly happened?

▪ Did he vote YES?
▪ Was he absent from the House during the vote?
▪ Did he choose not to participate?
▪ Or is there another explanation that the public is missing?

If an MP strongly opposes a Bill, shouldn't that opposition be reflected in the final vote?

This is not an attack on Ndindi Nyoro. It's simply a request for clarity and accountability. The official voting record should match the public position leaders take on important national issues.

Out of Kenya’s 349 Members of Parliament, only 162 were present to vote on one of the most important pieces of legislation affecting every Kenyan—the Finance Bill 2026. The Bill was eventually passed with 122 MPs voting in favour and 40 voting against.

Whether you support or oppose the Bill, one question remains: Where were the other MPs when Kenyans needed their voices on such a critical matter?

These are the 40 MPs who voted NO to the Finance Bill 2026. They chose to have their position recorded on the floor of the House, while many others were absent during the vote.

Leadership is not just about enjoying privileges and allowances; it is also about showing up, debating, and voting on issues that directly affect the people who elected you.

Do you think MPs who skip crucial votes should be held accountable by their constituents?

🇿🇼 Zimbabwe's Parliament has passed a controversial bill that would extend presidential terms from 5 to 7 years, potentially allowing President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remain in office until 2030. The bill secured the required two-thirds majority in the lower house and now heads to the Senate, where it is also expected to pass.

Supporters say the move will promote political stability and allow for long-term planning, while critics argue it is designed to keep the 83-year-old leader in power beyond his current mandate.

The debate reignites a familiar question across Africa: Should constitutions be amended to extend leaders' time in office, or should term limits remain untouched to protect democracy?

Kitutu Chache South MP Daniel Kibagendi has criticized Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, saying it is inappropriate to imply that former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i was involved in the burning of people's property.

As the political temperatures continue to rise ahead of 2027, leaders are increasingly being called upon to engage in respectful and issue-based politics.

🔥 Drama in Parliament!

Junet Mohamed sparked laughter after claiming he is the "caretaker" of the Wamunyoro group.

MP Wakili Muriu quickly fired back:

"I am a Wamunyoro, and they are the Kasongo faction."

The witty exchange left the House in uproar as political rivalries continue to play out in Parliament.
