Strengthening partnerships for inclusive economic transformation.

The Department of Economics, led by Chair Prof. Martin Oleche, hosted Sumangala Damodaran, Director of Gender & Economics at IDEAS, for discussions on feminist macroeconomics, capacity building, curriculum development, research collaboration, and regional conferences. The engagement marks a significant step towards a five-year collaborative partnership aimed at advancing teaching, research, and policy dialogue in gender and economics.

I am especially delighted to note that a total of 736 students are being recognized and awarded today. We are proud to have 108 University Prize donors across our ten faculties, contributing a total of Ksh. 2,654,500 in cash prizes. This remarkable show of generosity speaks to the confidence our partners and stakeholders have in our students and in the future we are building together. To all our donors, we say thank you for investing in our talents, in the dreams and aspirations of our young people.

This ceremony is a powerful reminder of the importance of merit in our society. Awards are more than accolades; they are affirmations of efforts, consistency, and purpose. Being recognized is a virtue in itself, it reflects not only what you have achieved, but also who you are becoming. I urge you to carry this honor with humility and responsibility, allowing it to inspire even greater impact in your future endeavors. VC- Prof. Margaret Hutchinson.
