📢 PARENT SURVEY ON GRADE 10 PLACEMENT UNDER CBE (KENYA)

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I got an opportunity to present a paper on career pathway selection and Senior School placement under Kenya’s Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework.

The paper will focus on:
✍🏾How learners selected their career pathways.
✍🏾The level of learner and parental involvement
✍🏾The level of parental understanding of CBE
✍🏾Parental experiences with the 2026 Grade 10 placement process
✍🏾How fairness and equity in placement can be strengthened.

Your experience as a parent is extremely valuable in helping me present content that reflects the state of the matter as well as inform the concerned authorities on improving policy on career pathway selection and school placement practices.

🕒 The survey takes about 7–10 minutes to complete.

🔒 All responses are anonymous and confidential.

🎓 The data will be used strictly for the presentation during the conference to bring out the real experiences in the recently concluded G10 placement.

Dear parents, how is your child doing their revision at home? Please make sure they are not just busy with books and when schools reopen they are as empty as pouring water into a bucket with holes 😔😔😔

The level of content retention from a given study session is determined by the effectiveness of the study strategy utilized. In as much as there are numerous study methods, students vary in their knowledge of them and the effective utilization for meaningful revision. The majority of learners either overly utilize ineffective study strategies (which is very common), while unknowingly under-using the effective study strategies. Others use effective study strategies incorrectly or inconsistently because efficient study strategies will in most cases look like they are time consuming. Learners want that quick fix study method that saves them for the upcoming exam which they have not been preparing for. This is why the majority will memorize answers for the exam but unfortunately the memorized content escapes their memory at a speed of higher momentum than it entered.
