A JOURNEY TO THE STARS
The Kenya Mathematical Olympiad (KMO) is incredibly proud to celebrate the truly monumental achievement of one of our shining stars. We are thrilled to announce that Wanjiru Mwangi of Kenya High School has completed an extraordinary university application cycle, securing admission to five of the world's most prestigious and elite institutions.
After demonstrating her mathematical brilliance as a participant in the Pan-African Mathematical Olympiad (PAMO) and as a valued member of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) Kenya Team, Wanjiru received acceptance offers from:
• California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
• Yale University
• University of Pennsylvania (UPenn)
• Brown University
• Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
We can now confirm that Wanjiru has made the exciting decision to commit to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she will continue her mathematical journey among the world's finest minds.
Wanjiru is a testament to the life-changing power of mathematical excellence. The analytical rigor, creative problem-solving skills, and global experience cultivated through the Olympiads are precisely the attributes that world class universities seek.
Her journey is a victory not just for her, but for Kenya's academic potential. Her success sends a powerful message to every secondary school student wrestling with difficult theorems or practicing for the KMO: the late nights are worth it, and your potential is globally competitive.
The KMO exists to provide these gateways. We nurture talent from secondary school onwards, proving that the pathway from Kenya to global academic leadership is not only possible but, with hard work and dedication, achievable.
We congratulate Wanjiru on this phenomenal achievement and look forward to the remarkable contributions she will make to the world of mathematics and beyond. Kenya is truly proud!

Yesterday marked the successful conclusion of the Kenya Mathematical Olympiad Camp at CEMASTEA. The closing ceremony was graced by the CEO of CEMASTEA and the Chairman of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Nairobi.
It was inspiring to see the students' resilience, discipline, and enthusiasm throughout the intensive week. All participants received well deserved certificates of participation, and we eagerly await the team selection test results, due in about a week.
A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors and collaborators who made this camp possible: University of Waterloo, Global Talent Fund, African Olympiad Academy, and the KCB Foundation

Advancing Math Education at the KMO Team Selection Camp
We were honored to welcome Nirmala Sankaran, Co-founder of HeyMath!, on Day 4 of the Kenya Mathematical Olympiad (KMO) Team Selection Camp at CEMASTEA.
Nirmala presented the capabilities of the HeyMath! platform, showcasing its potential to transform how we approach mathematics. Our teachers were particularly impressed by the platform's flexibility and robust functionality.
A key highlight for us is that HeyMath! has been fully mapped to the Kenyan Competency-Based Education (CBE) system from Grade 1 to 12. This alignment is a game-changer for integrating world-class tech with our local curriculum.
