KNOW YOUR STUDENT LEADER: Grace Nasieku, Vice President

For Grace Nasieku leadership is not a title—it is a journey of service, sacrifice and inspiring others.

Her leadership journey began at a young age at Enengeetia Primary School in Narok County, Narok North Sub-County, where she served as a Class Representative before later taking on the role of Environmental Prefect.

At Enkare Nairowua Girls Secondary School, Grace continued to nurture her passion for leadership. She served as a Class Representative and was appointed Chairperson of LIT GLOW, a club dedicated to empowering the girl child. Beyond school, she also served as a youth leader in her church, further strengthening her commitment to serving others.

Joining Koitaleel Samoei University College (KSUC) marked another significant milestone in her journey. She successfully contested for the position of Student Treasurer, a position she secured through determination, sacrifice and the trust of her fellow students.

After completing her term as Treasurer, Grace returned to the students and sought their mandate to serve as Vice President. Once again, her fellow comrades placed their confidence in her, electing her to the position she currently holds.

Today, Grace continues to serve as Vice President of Koitaleel Samoei University College, representing and advocating for the interests of her fellow students while building on a leadership journey that started years ago.

Her ambitions extend beyond student leadership. Grace dreams of serving as a national leader and believes that, with faith, determination and service, that dream can become a reality.

“I have the urge to serve as a great national leader, and I trust and believe that it will eventually come true. With God, everything is possible. Leadership is not the position I hold; it is about the lives I inspire, the values I uphold and the legacy I leave.”

Grace Nasieku’s story is a reminder that great leadership is nurtured through service, courage and a willingness to make a difference—one step at a time.

KSUC HOSTS AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER, SIGNALS NEW GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES

Koitaleel Samoei University College (KSUC) hosted the Australian High Commissioner to Kenya, H.E. Andrew Barnes, during a visit facilitated by Landson Foundation Founder, Alfred Koech -Sergent

Mr. Koech was commended for mobilizing stakeholders to support development back home despite his long stay in Australia. He expressed his commitment to creating opportunities that connect KSUC and its students to Australia.

College Council Chairman Prof. Josephat Yego appreciated the guests for visiting KSUC and outlined his vision of transforming Mosoriot into a university town. He expressed KSUC’s interest in partnering with Australian universities in areas of common focus, including grants, scholarships, research and student development.

Principal Prof. Winston Akala reaffirmed KSUC’s vision of being a platform upon which young people can stand for progress, highlighting Sports Science and Management, Agriculture and Education as key areas of focus.

H.E. Barnes appreciated KSUC’s green and beautiful environment, visited fields actively utilized by world champions for training, and encouraged beneficiaries of Kenya-Australia opportunities to give back to their communities.

The engagement brought together KSUSA and Nandi Students Association leaders, community representatives and other stakeholders.

KNOW YOUR STUDENT LEADER: Esther Chemtai Naibei, Treasurer

At Koitaleel Samoei University College, leadership, innovation, and academic excellence go hand in hand. Esther Chemtai Naibei, the Students' Treasurer and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option) student, exemplifies the transformative opportunities available at the University.

Having developed her leadership skills from primary school through secondary education, Esther now serves the student community with integrity, transparency, and accountability. Her academic training in accounting has equipped her with practical skills in budgeting, financial management, and responsible stewardship, enabling her to effectively represent students' interests.

Beyond academics, Esther has embraced entrepreneurship by successfully operating clothing, mosquito net, and chips businesses while pursuing her studies. She has also acquired practical skills in hairdressing, barbering, and nail technology, demonstrating that KSUC nurtures innovation, self-reliance, and employability.

KNOW YOUR STUDENT LEADER: Juma Hanington, Sports and Social Welfare Director

Meet Juma Hanington, the Sports and Social Welfare Director of the Koitaleel Samoei University College Students' Association (KUSA) and a fourth-year Bachelor of Education (Arts) student from Trans-Nzoia County.

Inspired by the values of hard work, discipline, and community service, Juma's passion for leadership began at an early age. His experience as a Church Youth Leader strengthened his communication, teamwork, and servant leadership skills, motivating him to serve fellow students and champion their welfare.

A passionate footballer, Juma is also a key player in the KSUC Football Team. He believes sports nurture discipline, resilience, teamwork, and healthy living while creating lifelong friendships and leadership opportunities.

As Sports and Social Welfare Director, Juma is committed to promoting student well-being, encouraging participation in sports and co-curricular activities, and fostering unity through inclusivity and teamwork.

KSUC COMMITS TO EXCELLENCE DURING PERFORMANCE CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS

Koitaleel Samoei University College (KSUC) successfully participated in the Performance Contract negotiation exercise attended by the Chairman of the University College Council, Prof. Josephat Yego, Principal Prof. Winston Akala, representatives from the Ministry of Education led my Dr. Milton Njuki and KSUC staff.

During the session, the University's proposed performance targets were thoroughly negotiated and mutually agreed upon, providing a clear roadmap for institutional growth and accountability.

KSUC reaffirms its unwavering commitment to achieving the agreed targets through the collective efforts of the Council, Management, and staff.

The University College remains focused on delivering quality services, promoting excellence, and fostering continuous institutional improvement.
