THERE IS HOPE!

The COVID -19 global pandemic has shaken and wreaked havoc the entire world. Normal businesses are been exercised abnormally with almost everything on a standstill. Institutions of learning have resorted to online learning. Governments are on their toes trying to grapple how they are going to sustain the economy. The health sector is on its knees with various researchers and scientists sweating on the assignment placed on their tables. Citizens are wondering where the next shilling will come from because of the huge job losses, salary pay cuts and even low business operations. But you know what, there is hope!

There is hope that all will come to normalcy. I am certain that this dire time will surely come to pass and, on our backs, as it gets itself as part of history. This pandemic has made people to self-reevaluate themselves. With all the time build your skills, hobbies, passion and abilities at all cost. Nurturing of these gifts can surely bring positive energy once normal operations resume.

To those who love to write, this is the time to prove your skills; To those who inspire through poems, be the poet you have been desiring; To those who have fancy fingers, make melodies; To those who are likened to art, be creative; To those who thirst to create impact to the society, rise up and become a community influencer; To those who are tech favorites, there is still more to do in the global village.

There is hope that family bond will be strengthened and renewed. As more time is spent at home, ups and downs are bound to be experienced. That by itself, improves and makes people know each other more than before. To those almost broken families, mend the differences; To parents, know your children and correct them out of a pure love; To children; honor your father and mother, be genuine to what is bothering you, be open to the highs and lows and appreciate them to the commitments they are making in your life. We have a role to play to live in a christened manner as advised in the Holy Bible, which gives clear instructions to each family member on how they need to carry out themselves.

There is hope that we will start to view issues differently. Let’s be calm and know that God is in control. Let’s approach the throne of Grace at all time with confidence and with the assurance that the Almighty Father has not backed off. There is hope

This coming week we shall be celebrating the international youth Day in Mombasa county. We are humbled and honoured as we are among the partners in the event. This is a platform to share ideas and get to learn one or a two things from like minded individuals.
Our appreciation goes to the Mombasa County department of Youth Sports and Gender for such an opportunity.

We were privileged to pay a courtesy call to Hon. Hassan Mwamtoa who is in charge of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Cooperation. We discussed the need to have well thought out initiatives for the benefit of the society. He was more than eager to see us grow and involved in youth affairs.

LUCSA was privileged to be invited through its Chair Eddy Nika as one of the key stakeholders in the planning of the forthcoming International Youth Day that will ride on as its theme following the UN's recommendation. It was so amazing seeing other youth-led organization on the forefront of youth matters as they displayed zeal and passion. An educated society is worthwhile.

LUCSA is primarily known to spearhead the education agenda in Likoni Constituency. We not only limit our mandate to education but also take part in influencing the community in various capacity. Project FIDAS (Feel, Imagine, Do, And Share) is one of the initiatives we have engaged ourselves in. We would like to appreciate our Partners, Kishoka Youth Organization, Shikaadabu Alliance and Safisha Timbwani. We held a successful discourse with Moi Forces Academy - Mombasa which also played as our host and Shikaadabu Secondary on environmental initiatives they can take up within and beyond their school. It was amazing seeing students with a proper grasp of what their environment need to look like.

They say be silent in your hard work and let your success make the noise. Things are working out for the good of the society of Likoni.
This July we shall be conducting for the first time an Environment Symposium. This will see students from various schools come together to share on the current environmental trends, problems and even possible solutions.
This will be happening under the FIDAS project together with other community based organizations based in our locality with other likiminded stakeholders.
