📢📢 Bonjour,
Director AF is inviting TUM students to this special event with French writer Gaëlle Belem (from Réunion Island) on Wednesday 13th May in Alliance Française.
Her three books, all set in Réunion Island, offer an unflinching portrait of the territory, exploring slavery, colonialism, superstitions, and local legends, as well as their lasting impact on contemporary Réunion society. Her work has received critical acclaim in major media outlets including Le Monde, Le Figaro, La Croix, Littérature Magazine, RFI, The Guardian, France 24, The New York Times, Paris Match, Biba, Elle, and Cosmopolitan.
This meeting will be an opportunity for all students to learn more about Réunion Island - one of the closest parts of France to Kenya - and its links to the African continent. You will also be able to practice French with a native outside of the classroom after the event (English will be the main language of the meeting).
