Good start of a school year. Yesterday the teacher from ###V LO z Oddziałami Dwujęzycznymi im. Bolesława Prusa w Warszawie Renata had a speech about our project at the OEIiZK IT Education Conference to 118 Teachers from primary and high schools.
It looks like we have some more fans!

🌍 From maps to change! 🗺️

A year and a half after the launch of , we’re excited to share the project’s first achievements! ✨

đź“Ť 9 schools involved across Europe and Kenya
👩‍🏫 225 educators trained
🎒 More than 340 students actively engaged in participatory mapping, identifying social and environmental challenges within their local communities.

What’s next? Students will transform their findings into digital and printed maps, which they will present at the transnational meeting in Zaragoza in October 2026. 🇪🇸

And there’s more: the entire Just Maps journey will soon become an online training course, making its methodology accessible to even more educators.

🌍 Young Changemakers in Lanciano (Italy)!

Students from classes 1E and 1C of the Istituto Comprensivo Umberto I Lanciano took part in the project, becoming active global citizens committed to sustainability and climate justice.

Using Google Earth, they mapped key areas of Lanciano to identify challenges and promote greener habits:
🌳 Class 1E analyzed the “Vita” Park area through the lens of the UN Agenda 2030 goals.
♻️ Class 1C mapped waste collection points across the city, making this information more accessible to citizens and local authorities.

A special thanks to the teachers who guided the students throughout the project and helped turn their ideas into action.

Congratulations to all the students for this inspiring example of active citizenship, teamwork, and care for their community! đź‘Ź

Midsummer in Prus high school. Every year the party is there but this time together with Just Maps. Our Justmappers shared the experience of making maps with Lego with the whole school. Students just wanna have fun! It’s sun it’s joy and making is fun.

The name of the event is LIPA and it’s a playing with words. On one hand is a kind of derivation coming from Summer Event of Prus People (Letnia Impreza Prusaków) on the other hand the word makes sens by itself and means line tree.

And have you noticed mugs with Just Maps logo?

Yesterday students of ###V LO z Oddziałami Dwujęzycznymi im. Bolesława Prusa w Warszawie organised a meeting with local politician councillor Robert Migas - radny dla Pragi-Południe. He is not only representing inhabitants in the official authority but has a long story being an activist in one of well known local NGO.

Students were perfectly prepared and run the meeting by themselves. Then they let Councillor to ask questions about Just Maps project and the maps they made. After that they questioned Mr Migas. He happened to work professionally as environmental data analyst what definitely deepened the whole discussion about maps and the area. In the end he also gave directions how to proceed with the project if the real change is expected.

BTW The councillor was impressed by students ideas for the space they were working on and even amazed by one - bird watching tower!

(The space is a part of NATURE 2000 - nature reserve network in EU region and bird reserve)

On 6 June, students from the “Principe di Piemonte” Primary School and the “Umberto I” Secondary School in Lanciano presented the results of their Just Maps – Erasmus+ project to local authorities.

Through research, mapping activities and direct observation of their local environment, students explored how urban spaces can become more sustainable, inclusive and welcoming for the community.

đź“Ť Primary school students investigated the green history of their school and used digital mapping tools to design new spaces featuring green areas, reading corners, sports facilities, playgrounds and pedestrian pathways.

đź“Ť Secondary school students focused on the park near the Santa Chiara Hospice, identifying challenges and proposing practical solutions to improve its accessibility, usability and environmental quality.

More than an educational activity, Just Maps is an experience of active citizenship that empowers young people to become agents of change in their communities. By presenting their ideas to the Municipality, students contributed valuable insights for the future development of their territory.
