Today, Rongo University is hosting a Postgraduate and Faculty Workshop at the Multipurpose Hall, bringing together scholars and researchers in a dynamic engagement aimed at advancing academic excellence and strengthening research impact.

The workshop was officially opened by the Chief Executive Officer of the National Research Fund Kenya (NRF), Professor Dickson Andala, who emphasized the importance of building robust research capacity and fostering innovation within Kenya’s higher education sector. The event also features a guest address by the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya National Innovation Agency, Dr Tonny Omwansa, who is expected to provide insights on innovation-driven development and research commercialization.

The distinguished guests were received by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Gudu, alongside the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & Student Affairs), Professor Michael Ntabo, and the Director of Research, Dr Evans Ouma.

This workshop marks a significant milestone in strengthening research collaboration, enhancing postgraduate scholarship, and reaffirming the University’s commitment to generating knowledge that addresses contemporary societal challenges.

Today, Rongo University joins the rest of the world in marking World Environment Day, a global call to protect and restore our natural environment.

Day Two of the FLOW (Food, Learning and Growing) Partnership Agroecological Community of Practice (CoP) Workshop at Rongo University continues to bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and community stakeholders to advance conversations on sustainable agriculture, food systems, and community-driven innovation.

Through partnerships, research, and shared experiences, participants are exploring transformative approaches that promote food security, environmental sustainability, and inclusive growth within our communities.

Today marked the official opening of the FLOW (Food, Learning and Growing) Partnership Agroecological Community of Practice (CoP) Workshop at Rongo University, bringing together stakeholders committed to advancing sustainable agriculture, resilient food systems, and community empowerment.

The five-day workshop, organized in partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University and UNESCO, was officially opened by Hon. Lucas Mosenda, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture, Livestock Development, Fisheries and Blue Economy – Migori County, who joined FLOW partners led by Prof. Alison Blay-Palmer, UNESCO Chair on Food Biodiversity and Sustainability Studies, in underscoring the shared commitment between county leadership and international partners in advancing agroecological transformation.
The guests were warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Gudu, accompanied by members of the University Management Board in a workshop that brought together Farmers from across Migori County, Researchers, and Academia to foster knowledge exchange, innovation, and collaborative discussions aimed at strengthening agroecological practices and sustainable livelihoods.

As a University committed to impactful partnerships and community transformation, Rongo University continues to champion research, learning, and innovation that respond to societal needs and contribute to sustainable development.

The University delegation was led by the Registrar (Academics), Ms. Deborah Muchilwa, accompanied by the Admissions Team, who interacted with students and guided them on selecting programmes aligned with their passions and career aspirations.
