The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director Mohamed Amin announced on Friday, August 7, 2026, that forensic call data places former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in communication with a prime suspect and a boda boda rider linked to the murder of researcher Dr. Victoria Mutiso.
Residents and youth from Luciuti in Igembe North have voiced their dissatisfaction with their Member of County Assembly (MCA), accusing him of failing to fulfill development promises made during his campaign.
the residents claimed the MCA had promised to transform their trading Centre and improve essential infrastructure but had not delivered on those commitments. They expressed frustration over the poor condition of roads in the area, saying the transport network has remained in a deteriorated state, making movement and business activities difficult.
The residents also raised concerns over the lack of electricity connectivity, arguing that many households and businesses continue to operate without access to power. According to the protesters, the area has experienced little to no meaningful development despite repeated appeals to their elected representative.
They called on the county leadership and the relevant government agencies to address the challenges affecting Luciuti, urging their leaders to prioritize infrastructure and service delivery to improve the livelihoods of local residents.

Residents and women drawn from various community groups in Ruiri Rware have criticized the Meru County administration led by Mutuma M'Ethingia over what they described as a failure to honor transport arrangements for an event they were expected to attend.
According to the women, they had been informed to prepare and assemble at around 4:00 a.m., with the understanding that buses would pick them up and transport them to Irunduni for a function involving Deputy President Kithure Kindiki. However, they claimed that no vehicle arrived, leaving them stranded for several hours.
The frustrated women accused the county leadership of embarrassing and inconveniencing them, alleging that they were left waiting on the roadside throughout the day without food. Some of the women also directed criticism at Mutuma M'Ethingia and Linda Kiome, claiming they had lost confidence in their leadership and would not support them in future elections.
The women called on leaders to communicate honestly with residents and to avoid making commitments that are not fulfilled, saying such incidents undermine public trust.
