π¬β¨ EXPLORING THE MICROSCOPIC WORLD
Today, Grade 7 and 8 learners at Kyawango Academy had an exciting hands-on science lesson as they interacted with a microscope for the first time.
The 30-minute session, guided by Teacher Caleb, began with identifying the different parts of the microscope and understanding their functions. Learners then moved on to the practical aspect of the lessonβpreparing specimens for observation.
During the experiment: π§ͺ Students carefully peeled an onion layer, placed it on a slide, and observed plant cells, clearly noting the cell walls and visible nucleus.
πΏ A fresh leaf sample was also prepared by placing the underside on a slide, allowing learners to observe stomata and guard cells, which play a key role in gas exchange in plants.
π¦ They also examined a dead mosquito, where features such as the compound eyes and other body parts were observed.
This engaging lesson allowed learners to connect theory with practice, deepening their understanding of cell structure in both plants and animals.
At Kyawango Academy, we are proud to provide opportunities that nurture curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for science. π±

π¬π INTRODUCING LEARNERS TO PRACTICAL SCIENCE πΏ
At Kyawango Academy, we remain committed to delivering quality education that equips our learners with the skills and knowledge needed to be competitive in life.
Today, Grade 6, 7, and 8 learners attended a laboratory orientation session guided by their Science teacher, Mr. Muli. During this one-hour session, students were introduced to a variety of laboratory equipment used in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics lessons.
Some of the apparatus the learners were oriented on included magnets, weighing balances, thermometers, ammeters, voltmeters, dry cells, Bunsen burners, test tubes, measuring cylinders, spatulas, pairs of tongs, forceps, stirring rods, beakers, and measuring tapes, among many other important laboratory tools.
This session marks an important step towards strengthening practical science learning in our school. In the near future, through the Science Department, the school will be fully prepared to engage learners in hands-on science experiments.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the school management for their commitment to providing modern learning equipment that enhances the learning experience for our students. π

Cluster Level Athletics Participation
Yesterday, learners from Kyawango Academy proudly participated in the Cluster Level Athletics Competition held at Kyawango Primary School. The event brought together young athletes from different schools to showcase their talents, teamwork, and determination.
Our learners demonstrated great enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the activities. At Kyawango Academy, we strongly believe that education goes beyond the classroom. We encourage our students to actively participate in both curriculum and co-curricular activities, helping them grow into well-rounded individuals.
We are proud of all our participants for representing the school with dedication and courage. π

We thank God for the successful Thanksgiving Ceremony held today at Kyawango Academy in honor of our 2025 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment candidates who performed exceptionally well.
The event was graced by a Holy Mass presided over by Father Bernard of Mwala Parish, who delivered an inspiring message emphasizing the importance of strong cooperation between parents and teachers in nurturing disciplined, responsible, and well-rounded learners.
We were also honored by the presence of the Mwala Zone CSO, who congratulated the academy for its exemplary performance and commended the school management for its full compliance with Ministry of Education standards. He further enlightened parents and learners on the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system and encouraged students to begin identifying their career pathways within the three pillars: Arts & Sports, Social Sciences, and STEM.
The ceremony was crowned with the presentation of gifts and awards to our top-performing candidates, as well as recognition of our dedicated teachers for their exemplary service and commitment to academic excellence.
We sincerely thank our parents, staff, and all stakeholders for their continued support in shaping a brighter future for our learners.
