Successful Monitoring & Evaluation of Leadership for Education for Sustainable Development (LEAD-ESD) Machakos TTC CRE'CHE Change Project.
Friday, 22nd May 2026.
We are proud to have successfully held the Monitoring and Evaluation exercise for our Leadership for Education for Sustainable Development (LEAD-ESD) Change Project on Friday, 22nd May 2026 at Pioneer Hall, Machakos Teachers Training College. The session highlighted the tremendous progress of our flagship College Crèche Project, which is transforming lives and institutional culture at MATECO.
Key Highlights:
Curriculum Integration: The crèche is now meaningfully embedded in the teacher education curriculum through Diploma Teacher Education, Environmental Education, Agriculture, Home Science, Child Development, Nutrition, Life Skills, and Educational Psychology.
Greening & Climate Action: The project continues to promote a green learning environment through tree planting, vegetable and herb gardens, landscaping, water harvesting, and sustainable waste management.
Quality & Inclusive Education: The crèche is providing critical support to student mothers, enabling them to pursue their studies with dignity while ensuring their children receive quality care within the college premises.
Transformational Impact Observed:
Before the crèche, student mothers frequently missed classes to breastfeed or care for their infants, leading to fatigue, poor academic performance, and risk of dropout. Today, nursing mothers can attend lectures consistently, concentrate better, and participate fully in academic activities. This initiative is enhancing retention, academic success, equity, and inclusion at Machakos Teachers College.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all stakeholders, partners, and the college leadership for their continued support in advancing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
Together, we are building a more inclusive, supportive, and sustainable teacher training institution!
