Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) has established the Africa Center of Excellence in Sustainable Use of Insects as Food and Feeds (INSEFOODS) with funding from the World Bank. The development objective of the ACE II is to strengthen selected Eastern and Southern African higher education institutions to deliver quality postgraduate education and build collaborative research capacity in the region priority areas

It has been a great run, steering this project since its inception! We had the ACE II National Steering Committee (NSC) visit today to appraise the JOOUST ACE II InseFoods on the project implementation sustainability measures and centers for closure and exit of the project.

During the meeting, the team also discussed the sustainability of the three ACE II Centres post World Bank ACE II Project. The three Centres are JOOUST ACE II InseFoods, Egerton ACE II CECAAM, and Moi ACE II PTRE.

Are you looking to advance your studies through a paid Masters program? Look for further! Grassroots Financial Innovations for Inclusive Economic Growth (GFIIEG) is a collaborative research project funded by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) and implemented by JOOUST among others.The project is seeking a dedicated master’s student who shall work closely with the project research team to undertake research for master’s thesis in addressing the following research problem:
Research problem: Factors slowing uptake of a community currency amongst informal traders in Kisumu.
General requirements and qualification:
1.Be a registered student of a relevant master’s program at JOOUST, and have successfully completed course work.
2.Be willing to commit work time to the project for at least 9 months.
3.Previous experience or current interest in working with informal traders is a MUST.
4.Experience or interest in social entrepreneurship is a MUST
5.Ability to conduct independent research within a team is required.
6.Knowledge and interest in community currencies and other grassroots financial innovations is an added advantage.
