Some lessons can't be taught in a classroom.
At Matibabu Foundation Hospital, our students are learning what it means to work in a real healthcare environment; managing patient records, supporting clinical teams, and seeing firsthand how every role contributes to quality care. These experiences help bridge the gap between theory and practice, preparing them for the responsibilities that await them after graduation.

β¨ Take the first step toward a meaningful career in healthcare and become part of a profession that truly makes a difference.

A meaningful day of celebration, reflection, and appreciation as students, lecturers and nurses came together to mark International Nurses Day.
For those pursuing a career in nursing, moments like these are important reminders that nursing is more than a profession. It is patience during difficult shifts, compassion in vulnerable moments, critical thinking under pressure, and the commitment to care for people with dignity every single day.
To our nursing students, may today encourage you to continue growing into healthcare professionals who lead with both skill and humanity. And to all nurses who continue to mentor, guide, and inspire the next generation through their work and example, thank you for the impact you make beyond the clinical space. π
Happy International Nurses Day from Matibabu College.

At Matibabu, we believe that true learning happens in an environment where students feel supported, valued, heard, and cared forβnot only intellectually, but emotionally and mentally as well.
As we mark Mental Health Awareness Month, the college continues to strengthen its commitment to student well-being through counselling and psychosocial support services designed to create a safe, confidential, and empowering space for every student.
College life can be demanding, and behind every classroom, assignment, and achievement is a student navigating personal experiences, pressures, and challenges unique to them. That is why Matibabu College continues to foster a culture where seeking support is encouraged, mental health conversations are normalized, and no student feels alone.
Our goal is to build not only skilled professionals, but resilient, confident, and emotionally healthy individuals prepared for life beyond the classroom. Through supportive engagement, guidance, and community care, we continue to grow an institution where students can thrive both academically and personally.
At Matibabu, we grow hope here.
A healthy mind creates room for growth, purpose, and success.

Some journeys come full circle in the most meaningful ways.
We recently met one of our alumni, Betty, out in the field where she now serves at Akala Health Centre, providing quality healthcare to her community. Seeing her in practice was a reminder of what our training is truly about. Not just completing a course, but stepping into the world ready to serve with skill, confidence, and compassion.
What stood out even more was that she still proudly wears her Matibabu College button. A small detail, but a powerful reflection of the connection our students carry with them long after they leave.
This is the impact of training that goes beyond the classroom. This is the Matibabu standard.

Training healthcare professionals requires more than classroom instruction. It demands exposure to real environments, real pressure, and real responsibility.
Our students were part of a medical support team providing care during a high energy sports event, where they assessed injuries, responded to emergencies, and worked alongside experienced practitioners in a fast paced and unpredictable setting. These experiences are essential in building clinical judgment, strengthening teamwork, and developing the ability to act with confidence when it matters most.
At Matibabu College of Health Sciences, learning is intentionally designed to extend beyond theory. Students are given opportunities to engage in practical field settings where they apply their knowledge in real situations. This approach ensures that competence is not only taught, but consistently practiced and refined.
This is the level of exposure that prepares our students to become dependable and capable healthcare professionals, ready to serve in diverse environments.

From the classroom to the community, learning becomes action.
Led by Matibabu Foundation and its clinical team, the outreach at Mathiwa Junior School created a real-world training environment for Matibabu College students, who supported the exercise by administering HPV vaccines under supervision. In settings like these, students move beyond theory, building confidence, refining clinical skills, and learning the discipline of patient care within structured public health programs. Itβs a model of training that prepares them for the realities of healthcare

Ward rounds may be standard, but excellence is not.
At Matibabu College, our students are trained to stand out through their attention to detail, critical thinking, and commitment to patient care. They learn not just to follow, but to understand, question, and grow into capable professionals.
