As a professional nanny this needs to be held in different ways .. first you are preparing kids for your leave! You talk, explain, read books, play games about moving, saying good byes.. you need to talk about the new adventures what is ahead of us, if someone is replacing you, we are all excited for a new person (ideally if nannies can works together for some time so it’s a smooth transition).. we can talk about how we will stay in touch, making video calls, writing letters, postcards etc. we can look and watch documentaries about the new place when family is moving or of the nannies home /country.. we talk about to plan they will come visit if they are older or for a summer vacation w parents.. Professional nanny needs to overcome her sadness (especially in that moment when we say goodbye) and be very positive about the future front of the kids, so kids feel less stressed and less emotional. And I don’t recommend to say final goodbyes on airport, train stations etc.. ideally if parents or a new nanny prepares for this day an extra fun day with some special surprise etc .. of course a good buy dinner, small gifts and a photo in frame before the leave day will help tremendously too! ✌
