These were the last litter of cubs sired by Scar - towards the end of 1999. Shortly after this photograph was taken by Angie in early 2000 the 2 Blonde Males (aka the Topi Plains males) took over the territory chasing Scar away from Bila Shaka Lugga and killing Kalis 4 young cubs.

Notch only went as far as Musiara Marsh and manged to cling on there until Blondie and Simba (the Blonde Males) forced him on his way (Scar left the Reserve and survived for a while but was beaten up by a group of lionesses shortly afterwards and later disappeared).

Bibi was two years old when this photo was taken and she lived to the ripe old age of 17 before being poisoned in December 2015 - a tragic end to a core member and great survivor of the Marsh Pride.

WildlifeDirect in partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service, FoNNaP, and other friends of NNP will be hosting KIUESA (50 students from MMU and ANU) on 16th Sep 2022 for a clean-up of the Mbagathi River to commemorate World Clean-up Day.



This marks the second edition of this important exercise following the inaugural event that was held early this year on 2nd Feb to mark the World Wetlands Day. During this event approximately 200KG of assorted solid waste was collected.

This time around we hope to surpass this target. We welcome collaboration through monetary or in kind support towards this noble cause.
