Life lately at Eco Moyo and our beautiful village Dzunguni.

March recap pt 1!

Our International Women’s Day was cut a little short due to rain: cultivating the land has of course highest priority, but we had a very successful workshop of making reusable pads!

Our Chess team made it all the way from Kilifi to Nairobi!!!!! Holy crap - this is so big and had some drama to it, that we wrote a blogpost about, you can read more on our website!

The swimming classes have continued, to see the students going from being afraid of the water to run and jump in feeling confident has been everything we wanted and more 😍

We put some more names on our Wall of Gratitude 🥰

And we recreated a picture from 2020: Issah & Alex on the bench in PP2 and now in grade 6 🤩

This years World Day of Happiness 🥰🩷

Our Happiness Tree is up, and what makes our students happy are things like eating, playing, dancing and reading - all things we do here at Eco Moyo. 🥰
(And joking and making noise 😂)

Thanks to everyone supporting us, together we spread happiness and make a real difference 🩷🧡

Our workshop on Saturday was nothing but awesome!!

We learned how to make reusable pads, we have enough material to keep doing some more, and we had a great day.

The celebration and dancing was however cut short, due to heavy rain and most women prioritised to head home and continue cultivate their lands - understandable!!!

But we managed to do a fashion show and a little bit of traditional dancing before the rain came, so it was after all a very good day 🥰

Guys!! This Saturday at Eco Moyo is a big one!! Help us make it possible 🧡

Our chess team has qualified for the regional tournament all the way in Mombasa (🤩)

To cover the full day — transport, lunch and registration — we need 850 NOK / $ 85.

At the very same time, we will celebrate International Women’s Day (one day early) with every girl from PP1 to Grade 9, together with their mothers and female guardians.

After our Girls’ Day in October, we saw how powerful it is to bring girls and mothers together. The openness, the conversations and the sense of unity made one thing clear: this space matters.

This Saturday will combine celebration and practical knowledge:

– A traditional dance workshop and student-led fashion show to build confidence and joy!
– Menstrual health education to break down stigma across generations
– Training in making reusable sanitary pads, offering a practical and affordable solution
– Breakfast porridge so everyone can fully take part in the day

This is about strengthening girls and women — together.

We are aiming to raise 5,000 NOK / $ 516 — not only to make this Saturday possible, but to continue reusable pad workshops and provide materials throughout the year. We want this to become an ongoing initiative, not just a one-day event.
