Welcome to "Permaculture in Kilifi, Kenya" ! In December 2012, nestled between the Giriama village of Fumbini and the beautiful emerald waters of Kilifi Creek, Distant Relatives was founded, as both a message of optimism and an experimental model of environmentally and socially conscious living. Certified by Ecotourism Kenya since April 2013 and recently partner of the Permaculture Research Institute of Kenya, Distant Relatives Ecolodge and Backpackers [http://www.kilifibackpackers.com/] hosted its first Permaculture Design Course in June 2014 presented by Tichafa Makovere. On this page, we encourage all to share permaculture knowledge-related information, ideas, contacts, documents, videos, questions etc! We will use the page as a forum to share updates of our daily progress on site. At the time of writing, we have 5 volunteers dedicated to pursuing what was started at the last course in June. We will try and share photos of the evolution! We will also use this page to advertise upcoming Permaculture Design Courses. The next PDC is planned for October 20th to November 3rd, presented by Tichafa Makovere (Nomadic Permaculture Consultant/Facilitator), in conjuction with Distant Relatives Ecolodge and in partnership with Permaculture Research Institute Kenya.
