"I had no hopes of joining college."

Those are Sophie's words; describing where she was after high school, when her father couldn't afford to send her to college and she was at home, waiting, with nowhere to go.

Then she heard about Tewa. A scholarship brought her here.

She trained in housekeeping. Completed module one. Worked in the industry for a year. Came back to do module two.

Today she is Tewa's Housekeeping Supervisor.

We asked her what Tewa has given her.

"I'm a better person. I'm a responsible person. I'm working well."

She didn't grow up with a computer at home.
Today, she's building a digital career, right here in Kilifi.

Meet 33 of the 66 women in Tewa's May 2026 cohort, currently taking part in the Ajira Digital Training Program at the Ajira Digital offices in Kilifi town. Over two days, all 66 students complete skills training that opens doors to freelancing, online work, and Kenya's growing digital economy.
