Center of Hope School was founded in January 2014 , to create a secure peaceful environment for mindset transformation, to inspire children to learn and expand their horizon. Many families in kibera slum live below a dollar a day ,therefore providing children with basic quality education is a nightmare to many parents as they struggle to meet other basic needs. Center of Hope school was therefore
started to provide a basic quality education to the most vulnerable children in Kibera slum. Though there are several government – sponsored schools in the area, which offer “free” primary education, the schools are far from free as there are several mandatory fees that need to be paid such as exam fees and private teacher's fees among others. Though conditions in these schools are considerably better, the schools are often overcrowded and under-staffed and lack crucial learning resources such as adequate amount of textbooks as well as supplementary reading materials, desks and chairs among others. Thus, many students often spend long periods of time away from school as their parents struggle to raise money to keep them in school. Center of Hope School provides quality education using a sponsorship model that ensures many vulnerable children receive a good start in life. With as little as 45 USD per month sponsors cater for tuition, meals, textbooks, as well as uniforms and medical care.
