👉 Did you know that femicide, the intentional targeting and killing of women, is epidemic in Kenya? Not just that, our culture has a history of violence towards women. A recent survey revealed that at least one in three Kenyan women have endured physical violence in their lifetime.

💥 We recently held an all-school meeting at NST to discuss this pressing issue and brainstorm what we can do as a community to combat this. By starting with our own community, we believe we can change the world, bit by bit. This is our starting point as Kenyan citizens.

Here at NST, we're committed to working together to prevent femicide and, more importantly, to prevent violence against women in our community. We stand for respect, equality, and safety for all. Let's work together to make a change! 💪

📣 We're excited to welcome 𝗠𝗿. 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, our Senior Teacher of Masonry and Carpentry at NTS!

From his days as an assistant teacher to now leading an entire department, his journey has been remarkable. With expertise in bricklaying, plastering and roofing, and experience from Gitwebe Technical Institute, he's a great asset to our team. His role is essential in equipping our students with the diverse skills needed for their national NITA exams and future careers.

Say good morning to ESL teacher Beatrice Thomas! Or you can say “habari za asubuhi” (Kiswahili) or “bwakire buya” (Kisii) – that’s because Beatrice is trilingual! Beatrice loves learning new languages because it helps her understand new cultures. Beatrice decided to become an English-as-a-Second-Language teacher because she wanted to share her passion for language and help young students prepare for their future careers. But don’t worry, it’s not all hard work. Beatrice is known among her students for her fun field trips. What’s your favorite meal? Patricia Ruri wants to know! She loves cooking new dishes for her friends and family. Her favorite thing to cook is “irio,” a dish made with mashed potatoes, maize (corn), and peas with lots of spices. Patricia is also learning to bake, and wants to make chocolate chip cookies. She’s 18 years old, and dreams of opening her own restaurant in Kisumu, her hometown. So, she’s applying to Boma International Hospitality College in Nairobi where she can study culinary arts AND entrepreneurship preparing her to run her own business. 🥳 Meet Madame Irene, our beloved head of the Hairdressing Program at NTS!

Starting with us as an assistant teacher in 2022, her dedication and rapport with students led her to become the head of the program by 2023. Known for her specialty in hair braiding and her previous experience at the esteemed Komina Salon in Kisii Town, she's not just an educator but a mentor who's dedicated to the success of each student. Her passion for teaching was discovered while volunteering at Entanke Polytechnic.

👨‍🏫 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝘆𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝘆𝗼 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲!

👉 In Nyamboyo Village, 80% of teens and young adults live below the poverty line. Many are forced to drop out of school to support their families. Young women face the risk of early marriage and pregnancy, while young men struggle to find meaningful careers. This limited access to education leads to a life of poverty and missed opportunities.

🌟 But there is hope! Currently, we have 80 students, aged 14–21, with an equal gender balance. Our goal is to expand our student body to 150 within 3 years, providing education and empowering these young individuals.

🌟At Nyamboyo Technical School, we believe in equal opportunities for all. We accept motivated students, regardless of their background, including race, color, religion, tribe, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, or marital/ parental status.
