At the Youth Education and Development Association (YEDA), we believe that every child deserves a strong educational foundation, regardless of their background or circumstances. Our Early Childhood Education Program provides a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for refugee and children in Kakuma Refugee Camp.

As seen in this classroom, YEDA’s volunteer teachers dedicate their time to helping young learners acquire basic literacy and numeracy skills, learning the alphabet, numbers, colors, and creative expression through drawing and play-based activities. Despite limited resources and challenging conditions, our team ensures that children experience joy, hope, and the excitement of learning every day.

Through this initiative, YEDA aims to:

Promote access to early childhood education for vulnerable and marginalized children.

Encourage social interaction, creativity, and confidence-building among young learners.

Lay the foundation for lifelong learning and community development.

Support parents and caregivers to understand the importance of early education in a child’s growth.

This program reflects YEDA’s ongoing commitment to empowering refugee youth and children through education, building resilience, and fostering opportunities for a brighter future.

Happy Mashujaa Day! As we celebrate Mashujaa Day, we honour the heroes and heroines who continue to champion justice, equality, and the protection of human dignity in our society, ensuring access to justice for the poor and the marginalized.

On behalf of the Youth Empowerment and Development Access (YEDA) team, we are delighted to warmly welcome Ms. Maria Laura as she begins her volunteering journey with us today.
