Love is more than just an emotion; it’s a transformative force that shapes our lives and the world around us. In the Bible, love is beautifully encapsulated in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” This scripture reminds us that true love is selfless and enduring.

Many advocates of the Law of Attraction emphasize love as a critical component in manifesting our desires. They believe that when we focus on love—both giving and receiving—it opens us up to a world of possibilities. As Esther Hicks says, “You can’t get there from there,” highlighting that positive emotions like love are essential for attracting what we want in life.

Consider the example of Oprah Winfrey, who has built her empire on the principles of love and kindness. She often speaks about how her success stems from her desire to help others, showcasing that when we approach life with love, we not only uplift ourselves but also those around us. Oprah's philanthropic efforts and her ability to connect with people exemplify the profound impact of love in action.

As I reflect on my own passion for making change, I realize that love is the catalyst. Whether through acts of kindness, community involvement, or simply offering support to those in need, love fuels our collective progress. It inspires us to create a better world, one interaction at a time.

Let us remember the words of 1 John 4:19: “We love because he first loved us.” By embracing love in our daily lives, we can initiate a ripple effect that transforms not only ourselves but also our communities. In this way, love becomes not just an ideal but a powerful force for change.

As I reflect on my life and purpose, I often ponder: Will I ever do something that will outlive me? What distinguishes those who are remembered long after their passing from those who fade into obscurity? I’ve searched for answers, tracing my ancestry only to discover that the furthest back I can remember is my grandparents, whose stories are already slipping away.

Consider this: “Legacy is not what we leave behind for others; it is what we leave within others.” Why do we continue to talk about figures like Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, Albert Einstein, or Nelson Mandela, while our own ancestors fade from memory? The answer lies in the impact they made. These individuals achieved something significant—something that transcends time and continues to resonate with future generations.

Every day, I awaken with a sense of urgency. “What will I do today that will matter tomorrow?” This question drives my work as a youth leader, innovator, and climate change activist. I am committed to creating solutions that address pressing issues in our communities—solutions that will not only benefit those living today but also future generations.

It’s a sobering reality that no one living today will be around in 300 years. We will eventually become memories, and the question is: how will we be remembered? This thought keeps me awake at night, propelling me to strive for something greater.

I believe that together, we can create a legacy. Let us focus on meaningful actions that will have lasting impact. Let’s work toward achieving our mission on this Earth—not just for ourselves but for the generations that will come after us.

In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” If we dedicate ourselves to serving our communities and addressing the challenges we face—whether it’s climate change, social injustice, or educational disparities—we can create a ripple effect that endures.

In the remote landscapes of Tharaka Nithi County in Eastern Kenya, a young dreamer emerged from a backdrop of adversity. This is a place marked by challenges—droughts, poverty, and discrimination. Growing up here, I often felt the weight of my circumstances, so much so that during my high school years, I hesitated to mention my hometown for fear of ridicule from my peers. Yet, in the face of such hardships, I made a resolute choice: I would not allow my condition to overshadow my vision; instead, I would let my vision illuminate my path forward.

“I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.” This quote resonated deeply with me as I navigated my education. My primary school was four kilometers from home, a distance I traversed daily for eight years, driven by an unwavering commitment to my future. Each step along that dusty road was a testament to my hard work and resilience. I knew that the challenges I faced at home fueled my determination to succeed.

My efforts bore fruit when I secured a place at an extra county school. I embraced this opportunity, not just as a chance for personal advancement but as a stepping stone to uplift my community. I believed that education was not merely a means to an end; it was a catalyst for change. Fueled by the struggles I had endured, I dedicated myself to my studies, and by God's grace, I achieved the grades necessary to gain admission to Pwani University.

Today, as a proud graduate with a Bachelor of Education in English and Literature, I find myself at a new pinnacle. The once insurmountable barriers have transformed into bridges that connect me with prominent figures and diverse communities across the globe. I can now confidently share my voice at international meetings and engage with leaders from all walks of life. My journey has fostered friendships that span continents, uniting us in our shared aspirations for a better future.

As I reflect on my journey, I am filled with gratitude and a deep sense of purpose. I have become a source of inspiration for my community, recognized for my leadership skills and contributions. I strive to embody integrity and compassion in every endeavor, believing firmly that change begins at home.

“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” This profound truth serves as a guiding principle in my life. I stand as a testament to the power of perseverance and vision, reminding others that no matter how dire the circumstances, it is our aspirations and actions that define our destiny.

My Journey with "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People"
Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to attend "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" course by Franklin Covey, a transformative experience that reshaped my approach as a youth leader and in my personal life. The insights I gained not only enhanced my leadership skills but also instilled a sense of purpose and direction.

Embracing Proactivity
One of the most profound lessons from the course was the importance of being proactive. Instead of reacting to circumstances, I learned to take responsibility for my actions and choices. This mindset shift has empowered me to tackle challenges head-on, allowing me to foster a more positive environment for my peers. I now approach situations with a solutions-oriented attitude, inspiring those around me to do the same.

Prioritizing What Matters
Another key takeaway was the focus on prioritization. By identifying what truly matters and aligning my actions with my core values, I’ve been able to make more meaningful contributions as a leader. I’ve learned to distinguish between urgent and important tasks, ensuring that my time is spent on activities that align with my long-term goals. This has not only boosted my productivity but also enriched my relationships with others.

Synergizing for Success
The concept of synergy was a revelation. I discovered the power of collaboration and the value of diverse perspectives. By actively seeking input from my team, I’ve been able to create an inclusive atmosphere that encourages innovation and creativity. Together, we achieve outcomes that exceed our individual capabilities, which has been incredibly rewarding.

The course reinforced the idea of lifelong learning and self-improvement. I now approach every experience as an opportunity for growth. This mindset has made me more adaptable and open to feedback, qualities that are essential for any leader striving for excellence.

A Call to Action
For those who haven’t had the chance to attend the course, I highly recommend reading Stephen Covey's book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." The principles laid out in the book are not just theoretical; they are practical tools that can help anyone, especially young leaders, navigate the complexities of life and leadership.

I’m immensely grateful to YALI RLC EA for providing me with this opportunity to grow. The skills and perspectives I gained from the course continue to influence my journey, and I’m excited to share these insights with my network.

As I look back on this day, I’m filled with a vivid tapestry of memories from my journey to become the Secretary General of the Tharaka University and College Students' Association (TUCSA). This experience was not just a personal ambition; it became a profound testament to the power of resilience, determination, and unwavering faith in oneself.

TUCSA, established by visionary Tharaka intellectuals, serves as a vital platform for uniting tertiary students in Tharaka Constituency. It’s a body deeply committed to academic support, environmental conservation, and community service. Its legacy is embodied by its patron, Hon. George Gitonga Murugara, a former chairman whose leadership has paved the way for many others in various political spheres. As I aspired to step into this esteemed role, I knew the challenges ahead were formidable.

People often wondered why TUCSA kept me awake at night. The answer was simple: I felt a calling to serve, and the stakes were high. When I shared my vision with friends and family, I was met with a mix of enthusiasm and skepticism. “It’s a tough battle,” some said. “Resources are limited, and what if the vote is rigged?” But as Nelson Mandela wisely stated, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” I held onto this belief fiercely.

With relentless optimism, I mobilized resources, leveraging my savings and rallying a passionate team around me. Each setback became a stepping stone, reinforcing my self-drive. I was reminded of Winston Churchill’s words: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”

On the decisive day, December 29, 2022, I stood among my peers, fueled by faith and the support of those who believed in our shared vision. The victory was overwhelming—I emerged with a significant margin, a testament to the power of perseverance and collective effort.

Since taking office, my team and I have made substantial strides. We’ve successfully lobbied for Kshs 2 million in bursaries from the Tharaka CDF office, aiding the brightest and most needy students. We organized a mega talent show and initiated mentorship programs for secondary school students, fostering a culture of growth and opportunity.

As I look ahead to December 2025, my goal is clear: to continue transforming the lives of students and enhancing our community. The journey is far from over, and with God’s guidance, I trust that more achievements await.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every student who believed in my leadership. Your support has been invaluable, and together, we will create a lasting impact. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” This is the spirit that drives me forward.

As a young leader striving to make a meaningful impact in the world, I recently immersed myself in Wallace D. Wattles' classic, "The Science of Getting Rich." This book has not only transformed my mindset but has also inspired me to pursue my passion for change more fervently.

Wattles presents a compelling argument: wealth is not merely about financial gain, but about creating value and positively influencing the lives of others. Here are a few key lessons that resonated deeply with me:

The Power of Thought: Wattles emphasizes that thoughts are powerful. What we focus on shapes our reality. By cultivating a mindset of abundance and possibility, we can attract opportunities and resources necessary for our goals.

Acting in a Certain Way: Success requires not just good intentions but also consistent, purposeful action. Wattles encourages us to act with faith and gratitude, fostering a proactive approach to our ambitions.

Giving More Value: The book highlights the importance of providing value to others. True wealth comes from serving and improving the lives of those around us. This principle aligns perfectly with my passion for making a difference; by focusing on community impact, we can drive collective progress.

The Role of Gratitude: Wattles teaches that gratitude is essential in the journey toward wealth. Being grateful not only enhances our mindset but also strengthens our relationships, which are crucial for collaboration and growth.

This program has greatly enhanced my communication skills and confidence in public speaking. I’m looking forward to applying these techniques in my professional journey and connecting with others through effective storytelling.

Cheating is not only having s*x with another person who is not your wife/husband, it also includes:

1. Receiving money from a man without the knowledge of your husband.

2. Giving money to a woman without the knowledge of your wife.

3. Sharing s*x jokes with a person who is not your spouse.

4. Deleting messages which you dont want your spouse to read

5. Answering frequent calls at night from an opposite gender in the presence of your spouse.

6. Avoiding answering a call from someone when your spouse is around or stepping aside to answer that call.

7. Saving contacts of those other persons with different names so that your spouse fails to recognise.

8. Lying about your location to your spouse when you are with that other person or vice versa.

9. Having office husbands and wives.

10. Piling unresolved issues with your spouse is another highest type of cheating which will in turn ruin your body, soul and spirit.
