It is with much sadness that I have to share this news. A Form 3 student, Gideon Nyongesa, passed away.
He battled Sickle Cell anemia since he was a child.
After going home for the break, he didn't feel well and went to the hospital. He was put in the ICU, and he passed there.
Gideon was a sweet and humble young man. He loved to play soccer and the piano. At Living Hope, he played the Keyboard and did it very well.
Gideon loved the Lord, and his dream was to be a Clinical Surgeon. He prayed the Lord would heal him, but the Lord had other plans and took him to be with him, I feel, so he wouldn't be in so much pain. When at Living Hope in March 2026, I remember him coming to me to chat and telling me his dreams and about his illness. We prayed together.
We ask that you keep his family, Living Hope, students, staff, and teachers in your prayers. His Service will be Tuesday, July 7. They will miss him. If you would like to donate to the school in his memory, you may send your donation to Friends of Living Hope, Community Grace UMC, 225 28th, Huntington, WV. 26702 earmarked for In Memory of Gideon Nyongesa.
