KATTI South Rift Regional Athletics Competition – Day One
The first day of the KATTI South Rift Regional Athletics Competition was successfully held today, bringing together talented student-athletes from TVET institutions across the South Rift region. The 𝐊𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐈 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 officially opened by the Chief Guest. The championships is being hosted by Kericho Township Technical and Vocational College. from 4th to 7th June 2026 at Kericho Teachers Training College. During the opening ceremony, Mr. Robert Cheres, Vice Chairperson of KATTI South Rift and Principal of Sot Technical Training Institute, represented our Principal Sammy Chemoiwa, the KATTI South Rift Chairperson. The event has brought together students and staff from various TVET institutions across the region and is filled with enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and a strong spirit of competition. Among those in attendance; Shadrack Tonui, KATTI National Chairman who is also the host Principal, alongside KATTI Principals, Deputy Principals, Deans of Students, Sports Officers, Coaches and student participants. We wish all our participating students the very best as they compete, showcase their talents and uphold the values of teamwork, discipline and excellence throughout the championships🏅🏃‍♂️

Hospitality Department equips learners with professional hospitality and institutional management skills.

The May Intake 2026 Orientation Day at Sotik Technical Training Institute marked a successful and important milestone in shaping learners’ academic and career journeys. Students were guided and motivated on how to successfully pursue their chosen courses, the necessary steps and responsibilities required during training, as well as the importance of self-discipline, commitment, and professionalism in building successful careers. The session inspired learners to embrace TVET education with confidence, responsibility, and a positive mindset towards their future careers.

Today, Sotik Technical Training Institute joined other TVET institutions in an environmental conservation exercise at Chepalungu Forest during the tree planting day together with equity stakeholders, Kenya forest service officers with other TVET s institution present. Once known for its rich natural environment and community value, the forest suffered years of degradation in the early 2000s. Through collective efforts by residents, stakeholders, and government-led initiatives, indigenous trees were planted to help restore and preserve this important ecosystem for future generations.

Today marked the end of a two-day high-level deliberation held at Sotik Technical Training Institute and led by the Sustainability Division of TVET, aimed at capacity building on Income Generating Activities (IGAs) within TVET institutions.

The deliberations brought together representatives from all TVET institutions in Bomet County to discuss sustainable strategies for enhancing institutional income streams, strengthening practical training, and promoting self-reliance within technical and vocational education institutions. The engagement also provided a platform for sharing experiences, innovative project ideas, and best practices on sustainable institutional development and resource mobilization.
